A cheeky bid for Elliot in the summer? Both of my brothers went to this game today and I really wish I could of joined them!
Just got in from the game, via the pub by way of celebration. Great showing by the lads today, very difficult to single out anyone for special attention, but I was well impressed with Callum Cambers, especially his 1st half, for a young lad in his first season he is starting to push Luke for the headlines and must be getting noticed in high places. Thought Rickie also looked sharp and mobile, he's such a clever unselfish player that lifts the team when he's on his game. For me Adam was different class to anyone on the park.
I love Saturday evenings when we win. Chinese takeaway, couple of beers, lovely stuff. Really does improve your weekend. Actually looking forward to Match of the Day, and I'm more than happy to sit through an hour of dull 'analysis' just to watch us again.
Don't know if it has been mentioned by anyone else, but saw a stat earlier saying that Rickie now has 10 league assists this season. He also has 10 goals, which is pretty impressive considering there have been a few criticising his performances this season. He showed today why he is still so important.
And how many has Carroll got of either? I know some people say Carroll is younger but Rickie is clearly fitter (injured less but that's not difficult compared to Carroll), scores and assists more and most importantly plays with his brain! I really think (and hope) that Rickie has earned himself his place on the plane after his contribution in the qualifiers and the Scotland game. I am also beginning to think that if Wellbeck goes ahead of Jay Rod it will be a travesty!
Anyone notice the reaction of the players when Rickie was subbed? Several made am effort to go to him and hug/high give him. Popular figure in the team.
That was a peach of a pass from Gaston to JRod, just a ball over the top according to the Sky summariser.
Thought it was a straight red this afternoon and having seen it tonight it was nasty, dangerous and a red card would be lenient..
Just watched our game on Match Choice on Sky. Everybody played well with special mention for JRod...he is going to be so important for us. Offers a bit of pace to beat the offside trap. Rickie thought it was our best game of the season. I think we have had other good games...the difference was that we scored whilst dominant.
We're seeing a lot of those balls of late; the forwards (including Rickie!) are looking to break the trap at every instance, and the mids are looking to find them. Damned difficult to defend when we can pick teams apart with the short stuff, and are equally adept when going for the home run.
