I can't understand why we keep bringing Aluko, usually as first change, since coming back from injury I can't remember him contributing anything when he has come on, also why not give Fryatt a run when we are looking for a goal, as I think he is a more natural goalscorer than Sagbo.
Well that was disappointing, terrible game, poor passing, poor mistakes, poor at creating chances and poor at finishing them. I have said this many times before and been criticised but I firmly believe that Elmo is not good enough. As a RB he can't defend and makes silly decisions, as a RM he can't take a man on without taking a huge touch past him which often ends up with him losing the ball, this happened four or five times today. In terms of his crossing it may have been good last year but I have very rarely seen him put in a great cross this year which takes out the defenders and requires a simple finish like Long's to Rosie today. In my view a winger needs trickery and skill, look at how Arnautovic played today offering so many more different options.
Aluko and Sagbo did everything they could right when they came on, Aluko should have been on earlier IMO
Both teams were ****. A mistake made the game. It would've ended 0-0 for certain if Elmo had not done that.
Criticism of players is fine , simply saying somebody who has done pretty well all season is **** is a bit ridiculous Expecting a player like Elmo to have as much impact in this league as in the Championship is a bit naive and was never going to happen and he has always made mistakes
Im guessing we're in for a nervy end to the season.. And I wonder how brave Bruce will be in his team selection at Wembley if we lose our next game against Swansea.
Aluko seemed to keep getting fouled/pulled back/pushed/bullied off the ball and the ref let play go each time. He got one freekick, after being fouled 3 times and the third time was only given because he was hacked down and the linesman flagged for it.
2 games in 3 days where we've more than matched the opposition yet got absolutely nothing to show from it. SB must be raging. We're right in it now, not that we were ever really out of it, even more so if West Ham fail to do us a big favour on Monday - surely they owe us one after Wednesday's robbery. The frustrating thing is that we look too good to be dragged into the bottom three, but without a change of luck then that's where we're heading.
The commentators made a point a few times that our players looked tired from the mid-week game and were struggling a bit. Out of the 4 teams that played Wednesday night, we're the only team to play today, Liverpool play tomorrow's late kick-off and Sunderland and West Ham play Monday night.
