Whilst out having a drink or two last night got chatting with a few people, we ended up on the subject of the Swans and season tickets, to my horror one of them said to me that he had got a ST for this year but he doesn't support Swansea.

"I'm a massive Tottenham fan so at least I will get to see them play unfortunately I can't celebrate when they score"

I had to bite me lip as I was ready to unleash some fury on him!!!!

Any one else come across more evidence of the Plastic reality? <grr><grr>

Maybe it has been done to death!! Yes he bought a ticket and put money into Swansea, for that I thank him.

But doesn't it still make your blood boil to hear of the story from the plastic side?

It doesn't bother me at all, people had their chances to buy tickets, when I bought mine I went straight in queued for 2 minutes and bought one, that was back in March

There seems to have been created 4 levels of supporters of our club

    1. true plastic being as one who will only turn up for the so called big games(my opinion they're all big this year) and support their big club when they visit. Expensive way imo

2.followers who only bought on the strengh that the club went up and hadn't bought one previously & who now have been bitten by the bug which is Swansea City.

    3. supporters who have always bought and put money into the club.

4.supporters who have bought ST in the past but were unlucky this time round

The common factor between all of them is that we as a Club need to change the opinions of :
group 1 to see the value in supporting their city club.

Convince groups 2 to continue regardless of what happens this season.

Encourage groups 3,&4 that their continued support is vital in the advancement and stabilty of the club.

Bonymaen, there is a 5th. Supporters who live too far away to warrant paying for a ST but still manage 8-10 games a year. Cost me at least £150 for every game I go to. Buy replica kits for my son, etc. So it cost me over 1k a year. My chances of seeing the Swans at The Liberty or away for that matter are limited, but I'll still be there is the worst happens.

This is why the real Jacks, ST'S or not should have been protected at the front of the queue, just a little more thought into the whole stampede, would have prevented this sort of thing, I hate the thought of these sort of plastic getting in front of the loyal rank and file, but mort your example will certainly not be an isolated case, take it from me!.................

But phil there will be far more people who were buying single tickets last season who are season ticket holders now, there are many stories out there, mine is that I bought a season ticket together with my 11 year old plastic fan of a daughter, of course being a plastic she shouldn't be allowed ! She is taking the place of a true fan now !

Is this arguement ever going to go away. The club were in a no win position. Fact is we have sold out. Many fans, including myself bought their season tickets early. Not worrying about what league we were in. when the last few thousand went on sale there was allways going to be to few tickets and to many fans wanting them. that is just life and every one had the same opportunity to purchase a ST. I am gutted for those real fans who couldnt buy one through circumstance. But we have to move on and just look forward to the new season.

However the first fan i see in the liberty in a liverpool or man utd shirt will definately have a piece of my mind. With any luck they will be escorted from the ground because of the potential for trouble amongst fans. thus making the purchase of those seasons by proper plastic (buisnesses) pointless.

The turnstile operators need also to ask for id to make sure the real purchaser is attending the game.

Time to move on from all this ticket issues now guys and jsut enjoy the rollercoaster ride we will have next year.

Jager i must disagree with you there, your daughter is in no way a plastic and this is the reason why, she is the future of Swansea City like many of us we were next generation swans fans who were introduced to the swans through the support of parents or family members, so no she is not a plastic fan and its great to see the youngsters flocking to the liberty, even if 10% of the new young swans continue to support the club in the future it will be a job well done

WELL SAID mabon, Jager that is one bizarre twist there mate, I really don't know what it is with you on this ST issue, I'm being objective as I can be, but you keep on bringing in these bizarre scenarios, try seeing it from Mort's view aye! how many more examples will you need before the penny drops.......

i think the only way that this can be verified is if we go back to the championship after this year, and what the resulting season ticket sales would be for our return to the championship next season

Personally i am hoping we will not have that scenario for the foreseeable future, but who knows whats in the crystal ball

Yes indeed Mabon, that will be the litmus test for sure, though I think we have a better chance than Blackpool, who only missed out on the last day! In Buck Rodgers we trust.....................

Why is it a bizarre twist? I am giving it from the other side, the thing is success breeds success and people will follow that, where do you think the almost 100% increase of fan numbers from the vetch came from phil ? We were filling about 75% of stadium since coming into the championship, wouldn't it be safe to assume that at least 25% more would be interested in the premier league ?

Really I can't understand you and others at times, you wan't the success but not the trappings of it, we have a small stadium and a large catchment area, it was obvious to me in March that I needed to renew ASAP , we still have 2k of tickets on sale for each game, a large majority of single buyers are now season ticket holders, people were given enough warnings about ticket sales, what more can be done?

Without having too much of a debate on the plastic fantastic my initial point of the topic was to see how many others have spoken to non swans fans on their reasoning for buying a ST for the Swans this year.

i know some people who bought season tickets that have no intention of going to any games. one i know has already sold his man utd ticket for £350 and he told me he will make over a grand on just 3 tickets. now there is no rule that says you cant sell on your tickets but to me its morally wrong.but what can you do it goes on everywhere...

I thought it was against the rules to sell on their tickets? If it was me I would report him to the inland revenue for making money and not declaring it, not that I'm malicious or anything, also would report him to the club I am sure they would be interested in this.

jager its common practice, its been going on for years and nothing can be done about it, its their tickets that they can do whatever they want with them, that the way it is unfortunately...

Never mind. They are here to stay for a season so lets build a stadium for them.
