The interest, to me, is that we have something approaching a starting lineup and a style of play. Will that help us avoid the drubbings we've been getting from the top three teams? My guess is Adebayor to come on as a sub at the 70 minute mark. The thing is, certainly Adebayor and probably Soldado have been our two best football players this year, though there's something to be said for Kaboul and Eiriksen. Soldado has gotten all kinds of grief for being unable to score (and understandably enough, since he cost 28 million), but only Adebayor's passing and movement have been as good. (Sodado leads us in assists, and is far ahead by my count in the pass before the assist). My sense is that you won't see Walker. So our fullbacks will be Naughton and Rose. No worries there! It is a fact we spent 100 million. Another fact is that we had a net spend of zero. A third is that if you have a net spend of zero, the less you spend the better. If your net spend = 0, more spending = more selling = more turnover = a more unsettled team. You of all clubs ought to understand that. Would you rather have Suarez or players you bought for the money you got for him? I know I'd rather have had Bale. Really I would expect Rodgers to quote the 100 million spent fact when you're about to play us and he feels Sherwood was trying to wind him up. It annoys me to hear neutrals quote it when it's perfectly misleading.
can we have eriksen in the summer please lol, very pissed off he found form with you lot as i knew he was a good player and wanted us to buy him, and you get frustrated with him and sell, what was it, £12 mill odd you got him for, ffs why didn't we go for that!! straight swap for Allen
Nah 6 mil in the enivitable forsake... It's fine to say zero net until you think that 1 wage cannot equal 7 wages especially when some MUST be 100k plus. Think on it, no cl again, increasing wages.... There will be sales
not so sure on that mito, they will i should imagine have Europa, even though they have some good players, i am struggling apart from Eriksen to see who else thinks they can do better than Europa at the moment, so they could give spurs one more season at least to see if they can get cl football, they have a few who its settling in season and new country to adapt to. unless their wages have got out of hand and they do need to balance the books, i may have imagined it lol but spurs fans have always argued they are good with the wages and they are managable, has that suddenly changed because of the bale sale?
You're shouting at the wrong fans when you moan about money spent. Remember the £50 million we got for Torres? Everybody remembers Carroll and forgets that we also bought Suarez. Now Spurs fans were perfectly happy to quote Kenny's 'spend' so they can't really complain now!
They have more than few to settle in. People were aghast at the number of players that KK brought in on one go and then think how many of them actually made the grade. From looking at the Spurs board recently there are more than a few players who they believe are not good enough. That number may well be exacerbated when they get their latest manager (if the press are to be believed).
Can the twats posting scorelines kindly **** off to the prediction thread or at least have the courtesy of putting a #nojinx Thanks
Well in a year or two we'll hear thier losses and know then Europa ain't worth the hassle financially, only teams developing like athletico and who want to be winners give it a good go
Whats the chances we see Lucas come in for this game or the west ham game to prevent Gerrard getting booked?
If BR is just going to rest him he might as well have got a yellow against Sunderland. Lucas on if we are 3 goals up.
Yeah but there's no point resting him now unless games are definitely won. There are 3 games left he can be booked in. Not playing him for them is worse than just taking the 2 games ban. A booking against City and he misses the Chelsea game.
Yeah I don't agree about resting him. We need to take risks to win these games and we've shown earlier in the season, if needed we are capable of coping without him.
You have confirmation? According to the FA website it doesn't. The cut-off is 2nd Sunday in April (inclusive).
Decent point. I did say I expected Liverpool fans to quote the spent, not the net, but got in a dig about it later on, so fair enough. I should probably also give you credit for selling Torres just about exactly on his sell-by date. As to exits: While I don't think we'll have to sell players, strictly speaking, even though our wage bill has gone up, I hope and expect we'll sell at least a couple. A bigger problem for us than a half new team and the wrong manager for them was so many players at about the same level we've failed to settle on a starting lineup, at least until very recently. To mention only our deep lying players, Dembele, Paulinho, Sandro, Bentaleb, Capoue have all looked very good at times, and the first three have impressive pedigrees. But trading in two or even three of them for a top deep-lying playmaker would get our team firing on all cylinders, IMO. Even just playing our kid, Bentaleb, the one playmaker in the bunch, has been a big improvement. He gets the ball to the right player, who dribbles at defenders, and we look okay and score some goals. The last two weeks we had a brace from different players not named Adebayor, which is progress.
This game is absolutely massive now regardless of what happens this evening. Should be an amazing atmosphere.
To be fair, every game is huge no matter what the result of others. It's near enough in our own hands.
