So what candidates would people have for a new manager?

For me 2 ideal candidates would be Klopp and Diego Simeone, both are young and very hungry successful managers, just the type to take us in a fresh direction and being able to motivate the players. You look at Simeone and he's been able to break the monopoly of Barca-Madrid by making it a 3 way race now for the past 2 seasons, and that does take some talent to be able to do that.

Another good candidate would be De Boer, he's young too, and has been very successful at Ajax, he'd fit in quite well with the Arsenal style too.

I wouldn't even mind Benitez, the guy's proven himself to be a top manager, he faded with Liverpool after they were run by the worst possible owners, but when he had a good ownership-support, he's shown he can get the job done, he was excellent for Chelsea, and he's been great for Napoli as well this season. Not only does he understand the EPL, he's been very strong in Europe as well, and the guy has shown he knows how to play with tactics going toe-toe with Mourinho on several occasions and coming out on top. So he could potentially thrive at a club like Arsenal.

The style of play is very different between Benetiz and Wenger, it will be a bit of a culture shock to some Arsenal fans.

In 2009, the last time Liverpool looked really good, and in fact should have won the league, Liverpool played some excellent stuff. The 2009 Liverpool compared to the now Liverpool, looked overall more solid and a real team, strong attack, strong midfield, strong defence, had everything.

    Cant stand Benitez.

Would'nt want him anywhere near Arsenal.

Benitez is decent tactically but AWFUL in the transfer market. Truly awful.

He didn't have the best options, we have moneeeeeeey now, we can get him to players....Plus lest we forget, Benitez took Higuian while we didn't, so he obviously must know something.

He did buy Arbeloa, Alonso, Garcia, Reina, Mascherano, Torres and he wanted to buy better players like Danny Alves when he was at Sevilla, but Rick Parry didnt let him and he had to buy cheap players like Josemi etc

But yes, just what I thought, Arsenal fans wont like his style of play.

    I like Benitez:

1- He doesn't like Mourinho, he doesn't like him at all, how many times did he not bother shaking that twats hand?

2- He doesn't like Manchester United, remember when he ripped into SAF?

3- He's always been very respectful of Arsenal and Wenger, paying a lot of compliments to Wenger, instead of trying to put him down.

He is, they're worse off than last season, out of Europe and spent a shed load in the summer.

Benitez is a good manager and was on the cusp of greatness with Liverpool. Never had the backing. Always got a lot of stick for his signings, but when you look at the players the board vetoed and decided to go for a cheaper option on...

He hasn't really done as well since though, granted.

Simeone would be first choice I imagine.

    Benitez is a clown.
He would probably improve your results in Europe as he actually has more than one tactic, unlike Wenger.
But domestically in England Wenger's record pisses all over Rafa's.

Oh well. My bad. They looked pretty in the EL recently. And he did also lead Chelsea to Europa success so maybe we should hire for the sole purpose of winning that trophy should we finish 5th.

If I could pick a manager, it would be Diego Simeone.

Benitez is a top manager, a great tactician and a super bloke. He has the support of LFC fans and some Chelsea fans. With money he can make the right signing. All of his £20m+ signings were successful. His free and £10m signings were average

Let's not get carried away and say that Wenger is much better than Benitez. Wenger beats Rafa in England, but this is primarily down to his early record, a recent vs record in England does not show much, apart from both winning an FA cup but Rafa winning the FA Community Shield as an extra piece of silverware. Benitez has a far superior record than Wenger in Europe, winning the Champions league twice, the UEFA cup twice, UEFA super cup and world club championship. Wenger's 9 year trophyless run is nothing to crow about, even if a large chunk of that was spent rebuilding. No top manager could get away with such a long and unsuccessful run on the pitch. Benitez got sacked for less than a season with Chelsea and he ended up winning the UEFA cup and got third, with a team that he didn't build!

    Wenger record:
    Monaco
    Ligue 1: 1987–88
    Coupe de France: 1990–91
    Nagoya Grampus
    Emperor's Cup: 1995
    J-League Super Cup: 1996
    Arsenal
    FA Premier League: 1997–98, 2001–02, 2003–04
    FA Cup: 1997–98, 2001–02, 2002–03, 2004–05
    FA Community Shield: 1998, 1999, 2002, 2004

    Benitez record:
    Real Madrid U-19s
    Spain U-19 League (1): 1992–93
    Spain U-19 Cup (2): 1990–91, 1992–93
    Extremadura
    Segunda División promotion (1): 1997–98
    Tenerife
    Segunda División promotion (1): 2000–01
    Valencia
    La Liga (2): 2001–02, 2003–04
    UEFA Cup (1): 2003–04
    Liverpool
    FA Cup (1): 2005–06
    FA Community Shield (1): 2006
    UEFA Champions League (1): 2004–05
    UEFA Super Cup (1): 2005
    Internazionale
    Supercoppa Italiana (1): 2010
FIFA Club World Cup (1): 2010
    Chelsea
    UEFA Europa League (1): 2012–13

    The ones that seem possible:

    ** Klopp
    ** Simeone
    ** de Boer
    ** Martinez

These are 4 realistic targets who may move to Arsenal. Of them, I think de Boer is the most likely to move - he made noises recently about moving to the PL (thought he mentioned Spurs as a team he'd like to manage!). He has experience with the Ajax youth set-up, has won many titles, and brought through some very good players. He also has his brother working with him at Ajax.

The big thing if Wenger does depart is NOT DOING A MOYES. He came in and changed ALL of the staff to make them his own and stamp his authority on the club. That has backfired hugely. The manager needs to come in, and change things gradually. If the club are successful, don't change that success, change the bits you feel you can make better. Bould is doing well with the defense - I really hope a new manager doesn't change him.

I would pick Klopp but if we can't get him then Simeone or Martinez. There is a part of me that wants Martinez. He is young, fresh, enthusiastic, a great motivator, plays great football and a good tactician. Above all he's a great bloke! If he can transform Everton into a better and more dangerous team in one season, than a Moyes team in 11 years, then he can do something major with Arsenal. He also plays the Wenger way, which will suit us.

And the classy way the fans acted. Never in my life have I come across such horrible behaviour in my life over a manager that was there for 2 seconds. I didn't like him before but felt really sorry at the way he was treated by Chelsea. Sad, just sad.
