    It's a non starter. He isn't the greatest manager we ever had. The PL was nice to begin with, but getting battered week in week out and scoring a piss poor amount of goals doesn't constitute an achievement either. You can look at PB's tactics and signings in our second season; out of all of them, only Stephen Hunt and JVoH were standout for me. I still think Warren Joyce is the best we had, if it weren't for him, we wouldn't have much of a club to support now.

    ALTIDORE WAS NOT A BAD PLAYER! He alone contributed to ten goals. More than every other player (bar stephen hunt). Had he been able to finish then he'd've been a lot better but he was strong, quick and quite skillful. For his age he was also quite intelligent and was able to pick out a pass (as his assist contribution suggests). Can we please stop labeling him as a bad signing? He's nowhere near as bad as sonko, zaki or bloody stelios giannokopolous!

    I'd forgotten about Zaki and Stelios. We really did waste some cash !

    My point! We also managed to score a total of 34 goals in the relegation season. So Altidore actually contributed to nearly a 3rd of these. So can someone please explain to me why he was a bad signing when statistics show that he was by far one of our better performers?

    Sorry Matt, for me Jozy was a poor signing, people knock Mclean but to the best of my knowledge he's already scored at least four times as many goals as Jozy did for us, in fact did Jozy score more than one, I'm not sure.

    Checked wiki, Mclean got three goals for us, I think Jozy got two, including one in the league.

    Plus Mclean's only had half a season with us compared to Jozy's full season. Altidore also missed a sitter for the yanks in the world cup last year, it was on par with Harper/Mclean misses!

    All those over hyping Brown have to remember one key point...... He had money to spend (and wasted it)!

    Sorry, I'll just take my well researched answer that has statistical value and shove it up my arse. How, out of all of the others mentioned, is Altidore considered a bad signing? He contributed to a lot more goals than the likes of cousin, folan and JVOH combined yet he's being slated. As shown, almost a third of our goals in the second premier league season were as a result of good work from Altidore.

    Erm, have you seen Iwelumo's miss for scotland? Yet all I've seen (and I agree) is people saying that he would be a decent signing.

    By no means am I over hyping browns signings. On the whole they were very poor, bar stephen hunt for the second season. I just find it hard to understand why Altidore gets slated so much when stats show he wasn't anywhere near as bad as people make him out to be. I for one would have him back in a heartbeat.

    I have it on good authority that, in our second season in the PL, there was a shop on Springbankistan which. as well as selling 'knockoff' Tigers' shirts, was also selling Brown underpants.....<cool>...<whistle>

    Sorry but as an English language student, I can't ignore these grammatical and spelling errors. The semi colon (;) needs replacing with a colon :)), you misspelled interesting and can't and the use of ellipsis only needs three full stops (...).

    Sorry but I have an exam this week so I'm being very picky. However back to your question, I'd add Altidore to it. You can't argue with statistics and they show that they guy contributed to almost a third of our overall goal haul for the season. And he didn't even play every week.

    I can't stress this enough. He contributed to almost 1/3 of our overall goals haul from that season. Why is that not successful? A semi colon looks like this - ;
    Silly me put it in between brackets so it came up as a smiley face <doh>

    I hope you don't mean me OLM. I haven't slated the team whatsoever. I'm just ranting about how no one but me seems to have rated Altidore.

    Think your forgetting Altidore was up against the likes of Terry and Vidic etc, hardly comparable to the CC is it. Mclean appears a good honest lad, just not good enough is all. As we struggled last season to score goals, the addition of Adebola as another non scoring forward means there is a certain degree of negativity on here. Yes lets hope we geta Man U loanee forward, but then why sign Adebola?
