Hold on a sec, I need to revist those stats. I've been excluding a manager's time as caretaker from their stats (which is why Adams wasn't last). I forgot to do that with Hart, so obviously his will be a lot lower than 30% Oh, is it turned excluding his caretaker period, his win percentage was 31.25%. Admittedly a couple of those are against lower league sides in the cups.
Why didn't they stick with the last one...couldn't be worse. Also why did Connolly leave...thought he was doing alright.
Apparently, Connolly was upset by something surrounding Barker's appointment and his position as coach, so they lost their best goalscorer and a good coach.
"The News PORTSMOUTH SAVED 20 4 13 PUP 8:36 PM on 26/03/2014 BEWARE Seen Saints fans on other pompey forums saying barker has gone for a wind up." Didn't know that RB was clockwork driven?
I only learnt he existed a few weeks ago. They need a rough tough manager who knows how to win when your back is to the wall...no time for anyone fancier.
They should have stuck with Whittingham, but did the dirty on him and then appointed the mate of the CEO. Well done Pompey Trust, acting the same, if not worse, than the succession of idiots who went before you. If Barker has been sacked, then I presume they will have to compensate him? But I'm sure they can find the money for that by not bothering to pay some debts again.
You have to feel sympathy with Richie Barker, he goes to look for another job and on his CV it says Manager of Portsmouth FC, how will that help him get a new position?
Read some of his quotes in the Portsmouth News. It's hard to have sympathy with him, unlike say Guy who genuinely deserved sympathy, especially as his tactics were appalling and we had about as much attacking threat and penetration as trying to knock down a house with a plastic ruler. Funnily enough, his tactics were appalling at Crawley too and he was sacked after scoring 1 goal in 7 games. Sacking Barker was the right thing to do in the circumstances, but hiring him in the first place was not only a terrible decision, it was also a wasted opportunity to get the right manager. Hopefully it'll be third time lucky for Portsmouth and they'll go someone experienced and with at least some tactical awareness.
