Diego Maradona is by far the greatest player ever. Sergio Agueros son has his Da for a parent, Diego for a Granda and Leo Messi for a Godfather.
For anyone interested, these are the twenty greatest players I have seen at live football matches - 1- Maradona 2- Gazza 3- Zidane 4- Enzo Scifo 5- Careca 6- L. Messi 7- L. Matthaus 8- C. Ronaldo 9- R. Baggio 10- M. Laudrup 11- Ryan Giggs 12- Jan Ceulemans 13- H. Stoichkov 14- G. Hagi 15- A. Moller 16- O. Kahn 17- A. Shearer 18- J.P Papin 19- Cafu 20- Peter Schmeichal
Never a truer word said. I watched the great man at the 1994 World Cup and even though he was drugged up, carrying timber, and his legs had gone, he still had the vision, the glue-like touch, the aura, and the fear factor of eight years previous. I was in total awe of the guy. And then about ten years ago at a trip to La Bombonera to watch Boca versus Velez Sarsfield, I was able to meet him, albeit briefly, and it was a magical few moments. He had no clue what I was saying, though.
You do realise that an all black team has never won anything of note, let alone having a black manager? And before you say it, the Beales Bongos sponsered 7-a-side tournament in the Congo doesn't count.
Yep. I will always treasure that memory. I have spent tens of thousands of pounds watching football around the globe, and I have met some of the greatest players while doing so, but meeting Maradona tops the list. Receiving a bear hug from a surprisingly massive Oliver Kahn was pretty cool. I bought him a stein of beer in a Munich restaurant and he was genuinely chuffed.
All white teams haven't won a great deal either. Brazil - greatest international side of all time - plenty of blacks. Even the Spaniards aren't completely white, they're Moorish. France have more Africans than Frenchmen in their team. African countries get further than 'white' teams like Scotland ever will.
But they only have to play some other African team to qualify. If they had to face European qualification you wouldn't see many African nations in the world cup.
Yeah you would, African nations are getting to the latter stages of World Cups these days. They beat European/South Americans on the way. Ghana would have probably won it in 2010 if it wasn't for the cheat Suarez handling it off the line TBH.
