Hopefully. With the way Cardiff seemed to target our left flank and Flanagan in the first half, I'd rather have a bit more protection. Johnson is a better player than Jordan Mutch (although there's not much (doh) in it) so that could be the area of weakness. Granted Allen made a mistake leading to one of their goals but him playing would afford us a more solid shape defensively than Coutinho in the midfield three... surely? Just saying it's risky to continually try and blast teams away.
Sunderland are going to make it difficult.. trying to stop Liverpool from playing...e. g pack the midfield.
Sunderland are going to be open. A trademark explosive start by us and we could end the game after 30 mins. Keep the team as is - I would consider using Aly to replace Flanno because I think it's important to keep players fresh. And if Flanno were to have another poor game, I think it could put pressure on him. Although Agger has been poor individually, he is the leader of our defence. He may not as obvious as Carra but Agger constantly talks to Flanno and Skrtel, organising. Flanno and Skrtel have both benefited from Agger's presence, and it's no coincidence that in the majority of the clean sheets we've had this season, Agger was starting in most. However, I would keep players fresh and it could be good to bring Sakho back in ... I think Sterling will come in for Coutinho - there will be space to exploit.
Poyet looking to spring surprise Published: 26 March, 2014 by Stuart Vose 'Desire, commitment and organisation' are keys for boss. Gus Poyet will head to Anfield tonight looking to stifle Liverpool as the Uruguayan looks to engineer what he says would be a “great upset”. Poyet is gearing up for a clash with a high-flying Reds side boasting the division’s sharpest attack, with a total of 82 goals scored so far this season. The Uruguayan has highlighted “desire, commitment and organisation” as foundations and says every player will have to operate at their maximum if the visitors are to come away with a result. Can we be the surprise of these midweek games? It would create something special for us - especially with our need for points. That’s the mentality, to go there and cause a great upset - Gus Poyet “We need to make things very difficult for Liverpool,” he told SAFSee at the Academy of Light. “We’re playing against one of the top teams, away from home as well. “Can we be the surprise of these midweek games? It would create something special for us - especially with our need for points. That’s the mentality, to go there and cause a great upset.” Chief amongst Liverpool’s threats are the front pairing of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, who are closing in on becoming the most prolific strike partnership since the Premier League’s formation. Poyet will look to find a way to stop the pair, who he believes could be the best partnership of the last 20 years. “Liverpool have been playing really well but what they are doing is creating something really unique," he explained. “They are probably the only team in England right now who don’t worry about conceding two or three goals because they can score five or six. “That’s something which is very important for a football team, when you have that possibility then it doesn’t matter how you play, how well you defend, how much you keep the ball because you will always have a threat up front who will get you the goals you need to win the game. “There’s a desire which I think is marking this partnership, making it probably one of the best in the last 20 years of English football.” Meanwhile, Poyet will make a minimum of two changes tonight with two first-team regulars missing. On-loan Liverpool man Fabio Borini will watch from the sidelines against his parent club, while Marcos Alonso is suspended. And Sunderland's head coach has laid down a challenge to the players coming in to “take responsibility” and make their mark. “There are always players that you are going to miss,” he said. “We need the other ones to take responsibility; I think it’s as simple as that. “They’re part of the squad and they are part of the first team squad…so I’m asking them to be professional and to defend the club and that’s the least that the supporters will expect them to do.”
Nothing at all wrong with fans being up for the game, imo, and it doesn't affect the outcome anyway. If you go to a game you cheer your team on, don't you? Not skulk in the corner muttering "I've got a bad feeling about this". Law of averages says we'll slip up one day, but no point going into each game expecting the worst before it happens.
I have gone for an LFC win in the poll, but for some reason I am more excited/apprehensive about this game then any this season. I have a feeling that it will be remembered for something unusual. Maybe a record score, a mad ref decision, hopefully not something bad such as a bad injury. Anyway that's it from me until the match, just of to buy some lottery tickets whilst I have my Mystic Meg feeling going on!
You've convinced me! Come on guys!! Goal targets, Suarez to get to 30+ and Sturridge to 20+ for the premier league.
More concerned with this game. Should Suarez get a couple tonight and Sturridge to get at least one. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/top-scorers
i am CONVINCED tonight suarez will get 4. I have a feeling. i don't know why. the odds must be long can anyone tell me where to look?
I hope so but I also hope not as I won't be able to watch the game due to a work event from 7.30-9.30pm. Boo hoo hoo.
