Did your club sack Powell "cos he is black", like that wet **** Toby would have everyone believe, or because he is a **** manager like Ince and Barnes?

The stats conclusively show that any 'new manager bounce' rarely lasts more than a couple of matches.

If he had been white he would not have been sacked.

    Jobby Logic.

I stood with the other 250 Addicks, Jonno, and witnessed a display of spirit and attacking intent. Five games under the new man, and we get two wins, two draws, and four cleans sheets, so long may that form continue. If we'd sacked Powell at Christmas, we would have been mid-table by now.

Off to Derby next and then up the road to Leeds. Another two points, methinks.

Powell will move on and do well, I'm sure. He is a legend, but that shouldn't have kept him in a job for so long.

Ponders - I heard on the radio that the owners bought a load of players in and he refused to play half of them? Is that true? if it is then there's no way he would have kept his job with those results.

You are not far wrong, Dan, but there is a bit more to it than that. Players were brought in to bolster the dwindling ranks, and Powell did play some of them, but others are sub-standard and would struggle in the Conference. The new man has come in and used the same players Powell did, and he has left out the same players as Powell, yet we are seeing an improvement in performance, tactics, substitutions and, most importantly, results.

Under Powell's stewardship we were heading back to League One, and we missed out on the chance of a trip to Wembley, so it was a no-brainer that new leadership was needed. It only took so long because of Powell's legend-status - any other manager would have been sacked long before! It's a shame to see him gone, but sentimentality does not put points on the table.

This may be a discussion for another time/thread/forum/website, but do black managers/players have the brains/mentality to be really great in/at football?

I'm sure there will be a truly successful black manager, but at the moment the statistics would suggest otherwise.

Chris Hughton, Chris Powell, Jean Tiguana and Keith Curle have the highest win ratios for black managers in England, yet they wouldn't exactly top the wanted lists for many clubs.
