The interview was aired in 3 parts, all done before the 10.00 news. Name change bit was second and third part, the "value" was third part.
This is no spat with the council, this is a power trip trying to assert his will on to the fans and make us wilt and back down under his strength. It's all about making sure we know he's in full control and that he can and will do as he likes. He's a ****ing ****. The council has absolutely **** all to do with this anymore, if it ever did. Ehab said if they couldn't change the name they start running the business in the interests of the shareholders. I'm no expect but surely if we want a successful and self sufficient club then it always should be run in the interest of the shareholders/ Another thing is he comparing the shirt deal Everton have just signed. But the reason Everton have got that is from being successful on the pitch and playing in the most most watched league in the world. Not a gimmicky name change.
The monies he thinks he will get as extra by changing the name are chicken feed in relative terms. The club will make more by flogging Proschwitz and saving on his wages. Burnsey sounded surprised at the amount he thinks it will make, I could imagine the FA sub committee stifling a giggle when he came out with those figures especially when they are based on hope and expectation. How they think a name change will give us an edge is beyond me, even if it did give an edge in Asian markets it could then make it unpalatable to other markets. A traditional, successful premier league club can be sold all over the world, one that is looking for investment purely in one market is restricting its potential.
I was really trying to keep an open mind when listening but none of what he said changed my view that it is just figures plucked out of thin air. What do people make of his comparison of the no vote supporters with having children, that we have to let go etc. Did anyone else hear the little laugh when talking about the atmosphere and chanting. I think thats what got to me the most. Just so dismissive of the fans and what he said about the vote confirmed it is about support for the owners.
Just been listening to the interview on playback and the conversation re the independent adjudicators is interesting. The club have already said 'turn-out' is high because they can see the incoming e-mails. Call me a cynic but there's nothing to stop someone looking at each vote, deleting some 'No' votes from the server and re-marking the remaining 'Yes' votes as unread. I'm not saying the club would do this but the integrity of the ballot is in serious doubt.
That's simplistic bollocks. There are many businesses where the customers have emotional connection, it can be motor products, music products, sports products, health products, membership businesses, et al. The whole point is that this emotional connection is there to be marketed and exploited by a good, well structured business. Football has customers who range from the FANatic to the casual pint and pay on the gate day customer; they are a mixed bag. They are also capable of walking away and they do, as we know when relegation hits. Their custom has to be managed and that is done by having savvy business acumen, not just saying it and giving folk your CV to read. There is nothing savvy about Allam; just arrogant ruthlessness. Like I said, it is a business so mange the type of business it is, it's not rocket science. I would agree that he has turned on some elements of the club's support, in fact, I believe that by turning on one he showed his preparedness to turn on them all. But this is still about the BIG LIE.
