(Assuming we will get CL and don't have an epic collapse! #nojinx)

Anyone else who will help? Wisdom and Illori returning from loans? Suso? Coady the surprise of next season in the middle?

    Errrrr - NO

Borini has played well for Sunderland but he hasn't set the world alight has he? I'm sure that Sunderland will make an offer for him if they stay up and I would be tempted to accept it. In terms of Summer signings we need a reserve striker who will fit with our attacking pattern and I don't see Borini being able to do that.

Agree with the musically-inclined angel above.

Would BR play Borini along SAS? Don't think so, as he doesn't offer enough in midfield or down the wing. So, he'd be a sub to either one of SAS. If that's the case, I rather go for a striker, one who's talented in scoring goals.

But I think BR is going to the market for a forward with winger upbringing, killing two birds with one stone, as he won't fancy the chances of both Studge and Suarez getting injured at the same time.

Luis Alberto..... no clue why he hasn't gone out on loan, he has barely played a full game if even that. Depends on what we are looking for in a LW/RW/SS, more skill, more pace, combination of both? Rodgers going after Salah and Kono suggests he wants more pace.

Luis Alberto isn't blessed with pace - but then he isn't really a forward. From the little that we've seen of him he offers a different style of midfield play to that provided by Coutinho. His game appears to suit a slower paced attacking formation which is just not our style.

his issue is not so much pace as drive. drive meaning aggression, running, closing down, busyness. i've not seen that in him.

It begs the question... did we take a punt... if so why?

Both MITO and Dave bring up big points on why we went with Alberto if he does not offer the pace or drive that we need? Or is this year his bedding in year where he just learns and learns? Still would like to see him play and become a helpful player next year.

I wonder if he's being prepared to carry the load in away CL games?

European games in general whether it was CL and EL. Still want to see these guys add something to league games as well!

Illori will be interesting. Before he went on loan, he mentioned something about coming back and being the no.1 RCB. A big boast and will have to now dislodge Skrtel who is doing an OK job this year ( OK in that the backline keeps changing and he is having to always adjust and doing well with that).

Agger I fear for out of the backline now, not sure who else we have in the LCB type of role though apart from Sakho?

yes I think ok give him a chance next year but we have to see that we've many young options that he can't be ahead of. suso should be ahead of him... can he play more midfield than suso? maybe... teixteria might be as good as him.. who knows.

then the point on ilori is a question. yes he might do whatever. i didn't hear that boast but i'd laugh him out of town. I saw him in the reserves. And frnakly he's not quite done enough since to justify it no matter what a few long passes say. by all means give him time. He is young and an option.

LCB = coates the useless lump.

I think Coates is done with us. I can see us going for somewhere there. Musachhio maybe although not sure if he is a lefty or not.

Boroni will be a very useful squad player next year and that's what is important. If we do make CL then we will be in 4 competitions [PL, FA, LC and CL]

You only have to look at Fergusons Man United. He had a great balance between great players [Giggs, Ronaldo, Scholes, Keane etc] with average players he could trust to do a solid job when needed [O'shea, Park, Brown, etc]. The average players would allow the better players to play and fill the gaps. They also prevented the better players from being overplayed and as such allowed success.

Boroni is above average and would be a fine squad player as he plays well against any opposition. He runs his arse off and is great at hassling opponents.

i totally agree. no drive, never lifted a wight or built power to cope with league. he always played lcb for us though. and managers so didn't trust him they played 3 at the back with ihim left as well... played lcb with carra in europa.

Which is a damn shame as he was awesome, simply awesome for Uruguay in the Copa America they won and was the young player of the tournament. That struggle of dealing with the pace of the prem and the difference in where the line rests as well.
