Today I saw both again, they don't look that similar. From memory I think it was Sordell, but my eyesight is poor and memory poorer. I'm sorry to Sordell for this criticism.
If Powell had overseen Saturday's result, we would have gone to Forest in ultra-defensive mode. JR, however, set us up to play attacking football, and the belief and motivation was all too evident last night. Hats off to JR for what he has achieved in such a short space of time. Two wins, two draws, and four clean sheets =
Powell is gone so you don't need to keep doing this. As was, Powell oversaw a poor 3-0 defeat to Burnley, followed by a very early and lucky goal conceded to Forest, and over the following 90 minutes got his team fighting back into the game. The performance against Forest at home was far superior to what was served up last night.
Last night's performance was different, yet just as impressive as the Forest home game. So near to the end of the season, the players could have wilted under the pressure, but instead they looked up for the challenge and then passed it with flying colours. The Powell debate will rage on until the end of the season, and rightly so, but I am not the one to keep it going, IA. You have the wrong man.
Forest were dreadful last night. That's why we won. We were not much better last night than on Saturday. A little better, not much. Were a lot better in the Forest home match, or, say, Birmingham away. Obviously, worse in Millwall home and Leicester away. You brought it up for no reason on this thread.
You jest, surely? Not much better than Saturday? Forest are a better side than Birmingham, and our performance last night was better than the away win at Brum, as much as I enjoyed that one. There were plenty of doom-laden responses to the Burnley defeat, so I was simply offering my support to JR and the good work he is doing. Nowt wrong with that. Or is it a one-way street?
Yes if we'd played Forest on Saturday and Burnley last night, in exactly the same performance, we wouldve beaten Forest and lost to Burnley. If we put in the performance shown at Brum away or Forest home, we would have won by a comfortable margin, 2 or 3 goals. I think lots of people work backwards and decide what they thought of the performance based on the result. Which is OK, but makes comparisons of performance across matches impossible. Forest are a club in total disarray right now. Luckily we have another such club (Leeds) coming up soon. I didn't expect anything from Burnley, thought Forest were beatable. I don't expect much from Derby. They're not world beaters, but I think like Burnley they'll be too effective and take their chances.
I don't agree with you, IA, but I appreciate you taking the time to explain your point. I believe last night's performance to be a massive improvement on Saturday's, and I don't just base that on the result. If we'd played as well on Saturday, I don't think we would have lost 3-0, yet if we'd played last night like we did on Saturday, then Forest would have won. Just my opinion.
Having just seen the highlights of last nights game, why did Wilson and Ajdarevic have to be pulled away form eachother at the final whistle???
