5 games under Jose with the same players - 4 clean sheets, and eight points <ok>

The same players who rolled over and had their tummies tickled under the Hopeless One at both Leicester & Sheff United, now rolling up their sleeves and exchanging both High Fives and punches on the pitch, such is their new passion for the cause. (Shades of Killer and Flanagan). This upturn is proving what some of us long suspected, namely that the whole club under Powell had become as stale as a slice of week old bread left bobbing on the local pond. I would also go as far to say as we could/would have achieved mid table safety had Riga replaced Powell earlier, around October to Christmas last year.

I am really warming to Jose Riga, and will loudly chant his name at Pride Park on Saturday. His tactics are better, his substitutions are better, and best of all he has removed that cloying blanket of sentimentality that was choking the Club under his predecessor.

As for Sir Chris's departure, I say..

Last night they played the same players who rolled over and had their tummies tickled under the Hopeless One at both Derby and Sheff United.

Well done to Riga, hope he does it. More passing game now. Don't think he will do it.

Its the passing style that I'm enjoying more than anything... Unfortunately when Yann came in we swapped from a direct passing style to a hoof ball type all too often which involved the ball coming back at us all too easily, now under Riga we're passing the ball creating space and gaps for the runners to try and exploit and we're creating more chances...

A bit of confidence and luck from the Strikers and they'll be flying in (something am sure Riga is working on because it sounds like he's as frustrated as us with the lack of goals)

i'm sure Vol after the first couple of games you were slating Riga and RD for bringing him in. Should we now assume that you and RD are having a love in about the new manager :emoticon-0152-heart

Taking triumphalism a bit too far IMO.

Give it a few defeats and he'll demand Riga out to boost ticket sales.

If all you have is a hammer...

Five games two goals. Wow our troubles are over now CP's gone. I look forward to Vol's vocal support if that ratio continues.

    I wouldn't worry.

He has always had two settings

Current manager is terrible, sack him
Previous manager was terrible, good job he was sacked (gloating thread weeks/months after the event)

Sometimes he switches between the two.

    Ted,

If Powell had gleaned 8 points & 4 clean sheets from 5 games, I guarantee that you for one would be eulogising over him. Why the apparent double standards? I was sceptical about Riga but he is winning me over with his style of football & assertive decisions. Look at the way he hooked Danny Green last Saturday. The signs are encouraging IMO.

As much as I would love to see more goals, if we go through the next 2 sets of 5 games as W2 D2 L1 I will be a happy chappy as we will definitely be staying up. Its not like we are not creating chances.

    I forgot setting 3

Dull insult with no connection to anything in particular.

I wonder what the players really think? How did they feel when they had fought for a win and the manager came out to take the acclaim? I was absolutely delighted when first Jacko then Hamer did the tunnel jumps Vs Bournemouth.

I should think most fans will be happy with that ratio if it includes two wins and four clean sheets, ted.

Two weeks ago we were rock bottom...

    Progress, methinks.

What about setting number four? Being reasonably happy with the new manager.

With regards to Pot Noodles, I don't really like them too much, but the beef and tomato is slightly palatable during the man-flu season.

Have you noticed that this thread isn't about Jose Riga?
