Barmby, who played for Hull City, Spurs and Everton among others during his career, has been priced as one of the early favourites at 16/1. The favourites are still Martin Foyle and Gary Brabin - priced at 8/1, with current boss, Mark Noon still priced at 12/1. Keith Curle joins a long list of candidates priced at 33/1 after the job was advertised by club chairman Ian Neale on Monday. http://www.nuneaton-news.co.uk/Ever...tory-20853409-detail/story.html#ixzz2x3cqxDvU
If you were a betting man OLM, would you put anything on Nick?? Why has Nick's name come up at all? Is it just how bookies work, trying to get people to part with their hard earned, or is there some basis for this, say that Nick has decided he wants to get into management now?
I've no idea why Nick would go to that **** hole. He did well with us with no budget, sure he made a couple of mistakes but what do you expect from a manager who earlier in his first managerial season was actually playing for that team? He'll have learned rom them, he's easily capable of doing a good job at a championship club. Nuneaton might have approached him, hence the link, but I seriously doubt he'd go to such a tiny club, he's worth more than that. If he wanted to get in to management but couldn't secure a job at a championship or league on club, he'd be far better served doing time as an assistant in the premiership or championship and moving on from there.
I have no idea what Nick's plans are, but I wouldn't be parting with any hard earned to back him being the next Nuneaton manager.
Perhaps a large group of Northampton fans have bet on him, is Horton still out of work - as if I were a chairman he would be on my shortlist. The issue now is that so many PL and Championship clubs go for non-English as the starting option so a decent manager like Brown, Barmby if they want work need to either go abroad or go to an "unfashionable" club and hope that by doing well they can attract a bigger club to take them on. And what is the Forest Chairman doing looking at Hoddle, as either Horton, Brown or Barmby could do a far better job
Due to a few dealings with the club whilst at University and my girlfriend originating from there, I've subconciously gained a bit of knowledge about Nuneaton. The chairman isn't too popular locally but since they went bust and reformed (and changed their name from Borough to Town!) they've had a little revival and their progress has been somewhat similar to Ferriby's. I don't think for a second that's Barmby's level, I think given another season he'd have been capable at championship level; but if he can spend a couple of years dragging them to the door of the football league, he's going to seem a lot more attractive to prospective employers than with just the 6 months he spent with us on his cv.
