A good point against a good team. However, we do need to be more confident and positive going forward. Way too much backward stuff for me, and Taylor seems not to have learned from Liverpool. He nearly cost us again tonight, although fair play for his cross to Bony. Shelvey also needs a kick in the arse. He really is not a team player, very selfish and inconsistent.
Thats pretty much how I see it too but we also shot ourselves in the foot by giving away possession with a lot of sloppy passes - Shelvey being the main culprit. Still we didnt stop tonight and we got our rewards in the end. ps can we just agree that Leon scored it! Never mind, no griping, it was a great and unexpected point which might make a difference come the end of the season. Well done the lads for that.
you play to the whistle and when time is up on his watch then that's it. Another few seconds and we may have won but the law of the game states that the ref must end the game at the exact time he has added to his watch. It's a shame but very happy with a point regardless...
Cheers, you're probably right when you say our title dream ended tonight, although I'm still hopefully of a pot at the end of this season. We weren't good enough tonight and the Swans played better than us for the majority of the match, and in spite of going ahead I never felt we were comfortable. Best of luck for the rest of your season.
I wanted Shelvey off at half time, very poor team work and poor decision making from him, Taylor not fit, Cramp?
Valuable point for us though in the end I suppose, hope we build on this form against Norwich at home on the weekend! WE ARE NOT GOING DOWN..................
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Obviously Sunderland have 3 games in hand on us, but looking at their fixture list (below), I think it will be a tough ask to get above us. We do need a result against Norwich, and 3 points would really pile the pressure on those below. Liverpool West Ham Spurs Everton Man City Chelsea Cardiff Man utd West Brom Us
Shelvey was hugely disappointing tonight. He's very inconsistent in his performances. Phill - you're spot on about the ref - "gutless" is exactly what that decision was.
???? I'd give then between 7 and 9 points before we play. I'd hope we'd get 6 BUT Cardiff have a good shout for between 12 Palace 6 Fulham 6 West Brom 7 West ham 6 Norwich 5 Hull 9 Villa 9 That would leave our result important for Sunderland but not us. ………………………..Played ………………..Points Hull City 38 42 Aston Villa 38 41 West Ham United 38 39 Norwich City 38 37 Cardiff City 38 37 Swansea City 37 36 WBA 38 35 Crystal Palace 38 34 Sunderland 37 34 Fulham 38 30 I know things don't work quite like that but we need at least 2 wins.
It's going be an interesting17th place race , a lot of 6 pointers amongst the remainig games . Wouldn't count Fulham out of the mix too soon . All said and done , the 3 at the bottom are on there wagons soon and headin out ! If Sunderland lose to West Ham on the weekend , they'll be bottom after 38 games imo.
During Fergie time a substitution adds a further 30s, a goal an extra minute (its in the rule book in black and white). We scored in Fergie time therefore it should have been extended to a minimum of 5mins. Ref blew early, robbing us of a goal scoring opportunity. Still I'm a glass half full type and I'm very happy with the point. Shelvey - was playing out of position in a holding role taking the sting out of his play, IMHO he plays better further up the pitch. Shelvey had to play this role because we know now, we can't trust Canas there. By his standards he had a poor game but still he was better than Canas would have been. Also Shelvey is returning from injury so needed a run-out to get the lead out of his legs. He'll be fine.
