Saturday brings a visit from the Geordies currently sitting i point above us. They will be smarting after losing 3-0 at home to Everton last night and Pardew would love to beat us at St Marys so will have them stoked up. We've been in reasonable form though and I'm very confident we can get a result. Havent heard any injury news but I'm hoping Morgan may be fit. If not I's sdtart Reed. Defence picks itself as does attack with Rickie having his best game for some time on Sunday. Question for me is who starts alongside Adam and Jrod and I think I'd give Gaston a start ahead of Davis. Boruc Chambers Fonte Lovren Shaw Cork Morgan/Reed Ramirez Lallana Jrod Rickie Subs Gazza Clyne Maya JWP Davis McQueen Gallagher I'm going for a 3-1 home win with Rickie scoring from the spot. About time we had a penalty! COYR!
Tom has been cast into the outer darkness then....he shall hereafter be blamed for that last goal Before the season started, I considered us about Newcastle's level. Present league position suggests the same, but I think we are on the up whilst they are a bit in limbo. Our home and away forms are about the same, but I think we will still have home advantage here. Real chance to jump over them now they have lost their game in hand, but I'm wary of believing until we are 4 in front.
I can't quite put my finger on why but I just feel we deserve to finish above them. I think over the course of the season we've looked a better team and I struggle to understand how they actually have more points than us.
I think we deserve to be higher because of our positivity and sheer entertainment value, but sadly the league persists in being decided by goals. We have a decent chance of finishing higher than Newcastle....it's ManU that is really annoying me. They were there for the taking and may not be again.
Think positive! We only need to close the gap by 4 points in 6 games (or 3 points with some comprehensive victories) and beat them on the last day of the season! It can be done
It is our perchant to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory that has cost us so much this season, we need a David Blunkett type to show us how to hang on to a lead.
Sorry guys but we deserve to be where we are. We've beaten Man Utd, Chelsea and Spurs along the way and if it wasn't for selling our best player in January we'd probably have 6-8 points more. Our downfall has been our game plan was built solely around Cabaye feeding Gouffran, Sissoko and Remy. Now that Cabaye has gone we only know how to play one way which is on the counter attack and to be honest that just doesn't work at home. We have a massive summer ahead of us, need to replace Cabaye, we'll have to replace Remy too probably so I full expect you to be progressing further than us next year as you seem to have an ambitous set up at the moment. Happy for you to do well as love the way you promote your youth players and the fact you have mostly a Bristish/English core of players in your first 11. Coming up for the game on Saturday so hoping for a positive result but would take a draw right now.
Hi GCB I'm worried about your counter attacking as our defence makes mistakes whren pressurised as we saw on Sunday. Pretty confident we will score though so I can see a few goals in this one.
When we counter attack we do it well, it's just that it's pretty much the only string to our bow. I definitely think that you'll score, pity we're missing Remy really as would have made for a much better game. We've got De Jong on loan who looks a bit toothless at the moment. Cisse has looked better of late but is still very erratic. I do think you'll win if I'm honest, probably 2-1/3-1 but it just depends on which Newcastle turns up. If it's the one that beat Hull 1-4 we'll have a chance but if it's the one that lost to lowly Fulham then you'll have a field day. Are Schneiderlin and Wanyama likely to be back? If not then I can see this being full of goals. Watched your game against Spurs (where you were outstanding for 30 minutes) and for the last hour of that game I didn't think your defence got much protection from the midfield.
