Honestly though, the board want more than that. I think they've been too conservative in the past, but they are not unambitious. If we do win the FA cup and finish in the top four, it will have been a decent season, you can't deny that. But, there is serious room for improvement and that's what the board and Wenger need to concentrate on in the summer.
Not really. Our final five games are pretty ****ing soft and we are experts in the run in for a top four place.
The difference is we have to put up with this s==t every season and the worst part is every man and his dog knows its going to happen.
That's what so sad about it, when everybody said we would bottle it come February-March I was thinking this year would be different and we wouldn't, that we'd show fight, sadly we've bottled it really really badly, I'd say our bottle job this time in the league in terms of challenging, has been the worse of them all.
Hopefully Ramsey becomes available for either the City or Everton game, we badly need some injured players to return. And if Ozil can be fit by the time the Fa Cup semi final hits, then all the more better.
Wenger gambled on the others being weaker than they turned out to be, thinking he could bag a cheeky title on the cheap. This season has to count as a show of ineptness on his part. Failure to sign the right players in the summer, failure to be bold in January. failure to motivate the players for the big games, failure to react to bad starts with tactical changes. On this season's showing, in the context of the transitional phase of the big rivals, Wenger's reign has run its course.
Sorry I can't agree with this let him stay for old time's sake sentiment, his is not suddenly going to become a tactical genius at this stage and thats a major issue for me so why would people want him spending all our transfer kitty. The bottom line is he has not got what it takes to compete in the modern game and should go,he is like the old boxer who just does not know when to quit, its starting to look sad at this stage.
for the FA cup - Hull, Sheffield & Wigan will have 0% pressure and you would have 100%. like the word 'likely'. good to see you guys see what everyone sees, atlast. You would get 3 pts without sweating from your last five games against Le Toon. But West Ham, Hull - could easily get into relegation zone making it difficult. Norwich, West Brom would be altogether different.
There's always pressure in the Fa Cup at that stage, even if you are the underdogs, if you're in their shoes, they're looking at the cup as their most realistic chance of winning a trophy EVER, it's not everyday your Hulls and Sheffield United's have a chance to play in the semis and final of a cup. At the end of the day there's nothing called 0% pressure for a team playing in the semifinals and finals of a major cup tournament.
I seriously hope Martinez gets AW 's holy grail..... If that does not bring about change, I doubt nothing else will!
There have been whispers in the media that Arsenal are interested in Martinez if Wenger doesn't sign the contract extension. I think it would be a master stroke. The man is lifting Everton to incredible heights.
No, Ozil and Koscielny would probably leave and the new manager wouldn't be able to get proper signings in
All people need to do is look at his record. He began the Swans revolution, he then kept Wigan up for so long which he does not get the recognition that accomplishment deserves and now like you say... his Everton is already better than any Moyes' teams there. Just a shame he has a very strong Top 4 this season otherwise he would have walked into a Champions League place. Saying that, let's see what he does next season as he will still be with Everton, he will know his current squad inside out and will have his own reinforcements coming in!
Kos is definitely replaceable, right now I could not care less if Ozil left so long as we recouped most of what we spent on him!
I think Wenger already predicted that they will not win over Swansea ahaha That's why he was under pressure
Don't worry, he'll make an offer for Remy, balk at the asking price and declare our striker options 'very strong' with Giroud, Bendtner and Sanogo available.
This is spot on. We know that Wenger was aware of our attacking deficiencies. He tried to get Ba on loan on the last day of the summer transfer window. Nothing was done to address this problem in January, even with our mediocre striker in the red zone. He probably thought that Pelligrini and Mourinho would need a 'settling in' season and that Liverpool's squad wasn't good enough to challenge for the league. Always trying to make do on the minimum, which always turns out to be insufficient to maintain a title challenge.
When Wenger does step down , the last thing we need is him sitting in the stand every saturday like Bacon face . Sticking his nose in . When hes not manager he should play NO part . And he should definitely be no where near the player acquisition department .! And before anyone chirps in with the default bleat ....... Yeah , he signed Ozil .......get over it. For every Ozil theres a Santos or a Clichy
