Best pies without doubt are the Pie Shop in Town, top tripadvisor rating, plus there sold at the Polar Bear on match days,

    Good evening Mr Carmine

Now I couldn't let this post without responding and maybe having a few laughs along the way. The first I knew of it was when one of the lads sent me a message asking whose missus I'd been knocking up

First let me apologise that you had such a bad experience at "my gaff" it certainly isn't the experience that we would like to deliver to any of our guests, but had you made us aware at the time I'm sure we could have rectified any issues that you may have had there and then.

But since your so adamant let me do something that I have never done before, come in before a game sometime and I will treat you and the misses to dinner on me to prove that we are us good as I believe we should be and that you should expect, I'll even buy you the beers I am that passionate about making things right for all my customers.

Now I bet your thinking this sounds like a wind up, but is completely genuine, my thinking behind this, is nearly all I do out of the restaurant (barring the kids) revolves around city and has done for the last 24 years or so, most of my best friends are city fans and I thought if this guy is as mad about city as I am then he can't be half bad. After all we all have city in common and for those 90 minutes every week we are all focused on the same thing..... A city win

So I am giving you the benefit of doubt as a gentleman you might be a decent person as I hope that you might for me.

Taking to account that I am a fat whack (by the way did I ever tell you I like food and am pretty passionate about it) and lollop around doing **** all, why don't you come and shadow me for a day and see with your own eyes what someone does do and not what you think they do, after ll I have to defend myself, my sons might see an cyber warrior get the better of his old man and I want them to be proud of me.

So come do what I do for a day, I'll even pay you twice the daily rate your on now to renumerate you for your troubles, but I have to warn you days are long and it starts with the school run ends early hours, but since I do f all it should be easy money for you.

Now as I say this is all genuine accept one or both..... I already know you sat in the prem club, so who knows you might earn a fortune so I maybe paying out a fortune, and your old neighbour (is he still our captain??? Or is it just club captain like Justin was) often helped with tickets so malice is intended or ever will be. I am holding out the olive branch as it were and defending my reputation.

    Send me a message

    Lots of love

    Fatso
    AKA jimmy chu

P.s. never trust a thin waiter or chef
P.p.s I can't get your issues any shoes

Just remembered another disappointing restaurant. Nachos on Prinny Ave. The mrs looked online at the menu, spanish/Mexican with a tapas menu. Get seated and the menu with the words Tapas across the front of them. Says wheres the Tapas. Oh we dont do it any more!!! kinell.

I like a bit of Mex but pisses me off when they charge you 6 quid for a bag of doritos wi grated cheese on em.

    Top post by Jimmy.

He's made me look a right mug.

    <laugh>

For the record the grub at Mr Chu's was decent, my comments about it being average were unduly harsh.

The service was poor though but I find it is in a lot of the restaurants I go to.

    Maybe it's me?

    Backtracking Carmine.

    I expected better.

At least a hungry honey badger surreptitiously released into the gaff at peak hour.

Can I just say the month me and the family spent at Richard Branson's Necker island was rubbish. Food abysmal throughout, beds uncomfy and the staff miserable.

    Over to you Dick........

don't backtrack Don, if someone doesn't like hard work and long hours then f**k off out of the service industry and do something else. Long busy days are no excuse for walking round looking rev'd off and creating a poor ambience.
    "I'm overworked and busy"
Well sunshine, I'm overworked and have had plenty of busy days to be able to afford coming to your restaurant so how's about you facilitate me enjoying myself?

Great post but his 16hr days are not worthy of a retraction.

Don't think Paulo's/Old Custom House is worth the price of the food.

Old fashioned. I got a steak which was just plonked on a plate with tomato sauce on it and some bits of broccoli.

My girlfriend got a starter of Italian Bread or something which was basically a full loaf of bread covered in cheese. She liked it, I thought it looked like a boulder.

Fatboy Slim (forget is real name) was in there slurping on some soup.

I was not particularly impressed, not for the prices they charge. The steak was no better than what you might get in a pub, IMO.

    Morning people,

Can't remember saying once in what I said that I was afraid of hard work and registered a complaint of any kind, I choose to me in this industry because it is something I enjoy so I would never complain about it.

16 hrs a day would make me part time haha

If you knew what I was like I am always ultra positive and never look revved off, otherwise how could I be a city fan for so long except for being the eternal optimist

I have always said I would be happy if city had one season in the Uefa cup as it would allow me to travel watching city which I did pre kids for many years with England,

Back to service bigfattiger and carmine, imagine your wife when she gives you the silent treatment (or peace and quiet as I like to call it) every guest is unique in the way you need to ascertain what it is they want just like your missus is, now it would be much easier if they just told you but that's not always the case, sometimes you get it right, sometimes wrong. That's just the nature of the game, if I was 100% right every time I would have a massive empire and be looking to buy city myself, but since I am human and fallible to mistakes that is not the case

All I can do is create what I think is good service and try it that way which is not going to be for everyone.

When I go out, what I like to feel is that the place wants me to be there, and a good indication of this is if you are the last guest in there, look at them and ask do they want you to be there or do they just close up and want to usher you out and bugger off home themselves.

Simply we will stay to the last person leaves (unless they pass out) there is no pressure on anyone to be hurried because to be honest we actually enjoy the company of our customers, we often have a laugh until the early hours and hake a point in strenuating this.

Where we are situated, it is often cold and windy, will we ever kick a person out into the cold..... No we wait with them and they can take advantage of our 24 hr licence (should never admit that... I know) so even if you there to the early hours we will be as will as thousands over the years will testify.

Now the problem is everyone has a different idea of what is good service, some people want speed and no interaction. Some people want you to ask if everything is ok every 2 minutes.... Literally, but everyone is different, just like trying to predict what mood your missus is in, haha

Trust me bigfattiger, we try to do everything to make oir customers happy, above and beyond what most places would not even consider doing for our guests, but sometimes interaction is all that is needed in order to resolve any problems

Mr carmine, offer still stands, come have a beer with me pre match one day, will show you what mr chus is all about

Bigfattiger if my original post came across as a complaint it is very much NOT it was just a response to what I thought was a bit harsh, but there are 2 sides to every story and I wouldn't so myself justice if I did not reply

Now if someone comes up and tells me they don't like me that's not a problem as everyone is entitled to their opinion but on a messageboard when they thought I probably would not respond May have thrown him a bit.

    Onwards and upwards

    Wembley in 3 weeks people!!!!
