I'd like to gauge everybody's opinions on this matter... If you're reading this section of the forum then chances are you're a die-hard Swansea City fan, but without being biassed do you think the team has done enough this year to stay up? Previous seasons we've been praised by commentators for our attractive style of play and our deserved placement in the top tier of English football.. So I raise the question, do we deserve to retain our Premier League status? Or is it fair to say we're one of the bottom 3 clubs taking the entirety of the season into account?
Depends on what your interpretation is of "deserve " , imo the teams that "deserve' to stay in the league are those who win enough points to be above the bottom 3 and thats it I'm afraid .An attractive style of play counts for nothing if you consider the likes of Stoke .West ham (I wouldn't go and watch if they played down the garden ) who are marginally more successful than us this year and thats what counts l , and thats whats partly wrong with the PL the lower table teams have to win at any cost without style or substance .No wonder so many pundits took to us in the 1st season ,we were different and committed to playing attractive attacking football ,what other clubs in recent history have had that said about them , not many .But at the end all the procession ,passings stats count for nothing it's points that determine whether we deserve to stay up
I agree with lurky. We only deserve to stay up if we rack up enough points. But I do think that we have set a model for other clubs to follow. Footballing style, Prudence financially and our investment into the facilities.
Canary in peace, we had a good win against a truly dreadful Sunderland team, who if they play like that for their remaining fixtures will be in trouble. They bought a good crowd who deserved a lot better! We have had, like you a pretty dire season but hopefully we can get a point or two more before our "easy" run in!I think we should both be Ok with Fulham and Cardiff with respect looking likely to go. That 3rd spot is still anyone's from us downwards really but hopefully we will both be fine.
What would you say we've done so far this season that makes us more deserving of Premier League football next year than the other teams in similar positions? Not looking for an argument just interested in your opinion
We have tried to play football and not just park the bus, yes we have had mediocre games to say the least but we have still tried to play football and we are the first premier league team in wales
Agree with Lurky, for me if you are in the bottom three at the end of the season, you deserve to go down as the table doesn't lie. You earn the right to play in this league and the players need to realise they need to earn the points on the pitch too.

In any league you get what you deserve, if we go down we deserve it. If Stoke stay up playing cynical,route 1 hoofball and they get more points or a better goal difference then they deserve it. Emotion doesnt come in to it.
We have fought on 2 fronts cup & league with to small a squad where injuries and management issues have tripped us up. We have been lucky with qualifying for the cup games and some great early season wins but also unlucky that the cup curse seemed to strike us and injuries, decisions going against us and not getting a result in games we should have won have all come on top now. Even with all that, our restricted team is still doing better than a few below us, only just mind but I think we deserve another go next season .
good question....You never deserve anything as you have to work for it and my view as a long time supporter is that Football is a hobby i enjoy and i could not give a toss whether we stay up or go down, I would like us to stay up and we probably will but i wont lose any sleep if we do go down that for sure. We will still be able to follow the club whatever league we play in as it's every individuals choice to make.....At the end of the day what will be will be but its only a bloody game after all and is not that important as your own life and family...
Yep i reckon that too because if people are so up their own arse over a game of bloody football then they need to see a doctor. Its just a game so enjoy it whatever league we are in. I like watching us in the premiership just like i have watched them in all the divisions, they all give pleasure in there own way. We will be watching us in the premiership next season i have no doubt but the point is that relegation is part of the game and i have seen it many times before...That life it did not stop me following the team..
Like you enjoyed it whichever manager was in charge, yeah right lol All the whinging you did over ML, you have no right to tell anybody to "just enjoy it whatever league we are in"
