http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...te-brain-damaged-patient-Priory-hospital.html Two carers have been filmed slapping, jabbing and humiliating a brain-damaged patient as he lay groaning in bed at a £3,000-a-week Priory hospital. Rita Page, 68, and Lynette Crook, 33, were caught smacking the young victimâs legs and swearing at him as they changed his bedding in Bury, Greater Manchester. On the secretly-filmed tape, Page can be heard saying: âYou wonât beat us, b******. Thereâs this very fine line between abuse and neglect.â Words fail me when seeing anything like this.
I just don't get it, how could anyone do this ? Oh we can tan talk about how health care workers should be checked and vetted, but ffs, crimes like this just make me cry, what the **** is wrong with ****s like that ?
Deal with these two with the full force that the law allows. But this will continue to happen whilst care workers are poorly trained, poorly paid and poorly supervised. The poor working conditions ensure that the role will only ever be undertaken by nomarks like this. Pay peanuts, get scum -monkeys. Improve pay, training and supervision, this will be stopped. Only problem is that we are not prepared to spend more on care. This will only get worse as an aging population lives longer.
Many moons ago, I worked in a residential care home as a chef for a couple of years. Being privy to the environment, it's the same as nursing in that it's accepted that some of the humour can be a bit dark. It's the nature of the job and if you're too sensitive then the regular losses and upset would eat you alive. This however, is a completely different ball game. Utterly disgusting and well worthy of a decent custodial sentence.
