I have had a look at the teams for this next season and upto now the quality of those coming into the Championship is better than ours. If we finish the top half we'll be lucky:
How do you think we feel having got used to playing the likes of Yeovil, Dagenham, MK Dons etc. Looking at this season in the championship means we need to be at our best much more often.
Tough league always has been. Always a suprise and all- i didn't think established sides like yourselves, Forest, Sheff Utd, Leicester or Wednesday would go down over the years but they did. Nor did i see Norwich, Swansea or Leeds doing so well last year.
Although we had a good season, especially the great run at the end, we often struggled on the poor pitches in League 1. As someone said:racehorses don't like mud! Presumably the pitches are better in the Championship with so many good clubs.
Ours gets bad during the winter months (as does everyones i suppose) and starts to cut up early spring when the season overlaps with the Rugby. It's nowt like Chelsea's beach pitch they created a few years ago.
Our pitch is like a carpet that is as good at the end of the season as the start, mainly because of the milder climate. The problem is that the players can get used to that.
There are only 6 teams in the PL that can finish Top 4 but in the npc there are perhaps 16. It's very competitive & we could finish anywhere from 4th to 20th IMO.
It was never going to be a successful season for us. Most teams are improving their squads, and whatever way you look at it, we're making ours worse.
You never quit whining do you? Yeah, we should probably start splashing ridiculous cash on players like Sonko again. That went well last time..... NPs signings in The Championship has been so much better than PBs in The Premier League
I'm not sure how this is relevant, as I haven't mentioned Phil Brown at all, but... please log in to view this image please log in to view this image He also signed Hope Akpan on loan who's just gone to the esteemed Crawley Town. The best thing you could say about Nigel's signings is that they were cheaper. Other than that they've been hit and miss. I fail to see how Phil Brown is relevant to this thread though, yes he was the greatest manager in our history, yes we'd all have him back given the chance, yes Adam Pearson should be fired for making such an egotistical boneheaded decision but that's not what this thread is about.
The Championship is a tough league every season, we should get improvement from last year which will put us in a play-off spot, and even numpty boy Percy may get to see his overpaid hero Bullard playing a part the way it's going, lets hope your right about how good he will be for us numnuts if we cant get rid!
You are way to "one-eyed" What do you think about these players? Horrible signings as well? They stand no chance against Altidore, Sonko, JVOH, Kilbane Etc I guess? Sure NP has made some doubtful signings, but you can't be right every time and Nigel has invested his money way way way better. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image James Chester, Matty Fryatt, etc etc etc
Evans isn't very good though is he? Average at best, certainly not a player I'd want to be first choice next season. As I said, it's hit and miss. Though it'd only be fair to point out the main difference between Brown and Pearson, get ready, because here comes the inside scoop... please log in to view this image Until Nigel has achieved anything here (no, 11th place is not an achievement), there's no point in comparing.
Far too early to be prediciting anything yet, there's still another 10 weeks left of the transfer window, 7 till the season. We might not be doing anything fantastic in the transfer market, but the signings can improve the squad and we can still add to the squad. A lot can change from now until August 31st. Like one poster said, we could finish anywhere from 4th-20th the league is that unpredictable. As for the teams that are splashing the cash, worth remembering that like Boro, Leicester and Cardiff last year, money doesn't garauntee anything.
E-i-e-i-e-i-o Up the football league we go...... We are going up! Percy, you're so pessimistic about your team. I think you'll see a great spine of a team by August, hopefully first hand.
