Nottingham Forest v Charlton Athletic Tuesday 25th March 2014 7:45pm Kick-Off Referee: Andy Haines As Iâve already stated in previous Match Threads the games are really coming thick and fast, especially now weâre truly in the Business end of the season and with the Addicks now on the road for the next three games (over the course of the week) itâs going to be vital that points are picked up wherever possible. And so on to tonightâs opponents Nottingham Forest and a side who have their own Chairman problems (something thatâll become a bit of a theme over the next week)⦠taken over in the summer of 2012 by Kuwaiti Businessmen, Forest have had no less than four managers since the take-over with Steve Cotterill, Sean OâDriscoll, Alex McLeish all being sacked within a matter of months and then yesterday came the announcement that Billy Davies had also been sacked following the 5-0 defeat at fierce rivals Derby County⦠Reports were muted that Neil Warnock was set to take charge yet that move has fallen through and so tonight Jose Riga finds himself up against Alan Brazil who takes Caretaker charge of Forest for the present time. And so having a run through the two teams and there are definitely links between the two sides... the most obvious of these being Marcus Tudgay who is current on loan at Charlton (though for how much longer time will tell) from Nottingham Forest yet is ineligible for the clash as per the terms of the agreement⦠For Forest you have Greg Halford who spent time on loan with the Addicks in 2008 and former crowd favourite Andy Reid (who looks set to miss out with a hamstring injury)⦠Finally Danny Green sneaks in under the radar who spent four years (mainly with the Youth Academy) at Forest after leaving Charlton. 01.10.2013 â Charlton Athletic 1-1 Nottingham Forest The points were shared between these two sides in the initial clash at the Valley back in October with ex-Addick Andy Reid opening the scoring early on with a neat free-kick⦠Charlton improved as the game went on and were rewarded with a well-deserved goal from Marvin Sordell⦠Following the result Billy Davies admitted that his side were lucky to leave London with a point and that the Addicks were the best side heâd faced yet this season (more of the same tonight please lads) Nottingham Forest since then⦠Of course as stated Billy Davies has now left the club following the 5-0 defeat away at Derby County yet we must remember that we face a side just one place and two points outside of the play-offs, although Forest are certainly there for the taking as they currently sit joint-bottom of the form table (with Barnsley NOT Charlton before people ask). Overall at home this season Nottingham Forest have won nine of the 18 matches theyâve played at the City Ground with just three defeats (coming against Blackpool, Reading and Wigan Athletic)⦠their result against Derby on the Weekend (5-0) was their heaviest defeat of the season whilst their biggest win in the league was a 3-0 win over Huddersfield (in the cup they did beat West Ham United 5-0) In terms of goals this season their top scorer is unsurprisingly Andy Reid who has 9-goals to his name whilst Simon Cox and Darius Henderson sit behind him with 8-goals each⦠Charlton will need to be at their best in the 15-minutes leading up to half-time (and the 15-minutes prior to Full-Time) which is where the majority of Forestâs goals have come from this season with 25% of goals coming in each of the mentioned periods. Charlton Team News With Leon Cort and Piotr Parzyszek (Getting so close to getting that spelling right) playing for the U21s played Crystal Palace in a friendly yesterday (a 2-0 defeat) those two names must be doubts for fixture tonight⦠Callum Harriott missed the Weekends game against Burnley so there are question marks over his fitness for tonight whilst Marcus Tudgay is ineligible as part of his loan Agreement with Nottingham Forest   Possible Side to Face Nottingham Forest Hamer Wilson â Morrison â Dervite â Wiggins Cousins â Poyet Ghoochanneijad â Ajdarevic â Jackson Obika Substitutes Bench Thuram â Nego â Wood â Green â Pritchard â Church â Sordell A4Lâs Prediction: 2-1 (Ghoochanneijad, Obika)
Alan Brazil as the manager, not sure he will make it up in the morning for the Talksport breakfast show!! Im going for a 1-0 either way or 0-0. I'm hoping 1-0 to us with Jackson in the 90th minute
Bit confident today, Warnock not at forest, team in disarray, never know. FEED THE PIG AND HE WILL SCORE! and maybe Polish Pete has finished his building project both up front would be a treat, cant do any worse than our current strikers at the moment. 3-0
Try Gary Brazil instead. Lovely bit of prose on the BBC site : Neil Warnock has rejected the chance to take over as Nottingham Forest manager because he feared there would be too much interference from the owners. I bet Chris Powell feels the same way!
2-1 to Forest. No idea where our "1" will come from, but we have to score sometime even if it bounces in off the ref's arse. I foresee us making a brave fight of it but tiring in the last 25 minutes with no decent subs to bring on. Forest's managerial problems may handicap them over forthcoming matches unless a new manager is appointed, but I fear for this first match they will put in a defiant "Dunkirk" effort for "One Night Only". Another good manager who has lost his job because the heart was ripped out of his team, though in Davies' case by injuries, not by his own directors. Thanks for your match thread, A4L. I never realised Green was at Forest for four years. I always assumed he dropped straight into non-league.
Eddie....you have been, like so many, sadly mis-informed. Both the pub, the leaf, and all forms of illicit paid entertainment....are freely available....and...as it is 8pm here....I may have had a glass or two of optimism!
Good preview as ever A4L, but I'm not sure Reza works on the right of a 3, mostly because I don't think Reza works anywhere. 2-0 Forest
Evening all Charlton: Hamer; Wilson, Wiggins, Morrison, Dervite; Cousins, Poyet, Jackson, Ajdarevic; Ghoochannejhad, Sordell Subs: Thuram-Ulien, Wood, Fox, Nego, Green, Pigott, Obika Nottingham Forest: Darlow, Halford, Lascelles, Collins, Fox, Jara, Greening, Mackie, Abdoun, Cox, Henderson Subs: Evtimov, Harding, Gomis, Paterson, Majewski, Derbyshire, Djebbour So Reza and Sordell start up front, and The Asteroid is back. It looks like Cousins will be on the right. Pigott is on the bench, and Church is nowhere to be seen. COYA!
Wonder if Pigott has been recalled then simply because of injury to Church? Match has been delayed until 8pm due to congestion
KO at 8 now, FEED THE PIG, gutted for Church but we need goals, as much as he runs he will never score so I understand dropping, 0-0 until the Pig comes on!
