Alves is definitely a better defender than Johnson and, IMO, he was and remains a better attacker too.
I agree... Johnson is about to go downhill rapidly IMO. I think we serious need him moving on. But we need a replacement.... We can't go to cl with wisdom and Flanagan.
I think he should have gone last summer. I seriously doubt we'll get more than £8m for him and that's optimistic, around £5m-£6m would be my guess.
West Ham defender Winston Reid is reported to be a target for Liverpool. The New Zealand international has impressed at Upton Park this season - but has failed to regain his place since recovering from injury. The Reds would face competition from Arsenal, who are also monitoring the situation.
Alves is 10x the player Johnson is or ever was. No contest. I thought Johnson played pretty well at the weekend but I would not be offering him a new contract on that basis. Sell for £5m and get rid of those mega wages.
Rumour one Everton and Liverpool are on high alert as Rubin Kazan are preparing to get rid of Yann MâVila. The 23-year-old French midfielder has been a long-term target of both clubs. Rubin are changing their transfer and selection policy, putting more emphasis on Russian players rather than imports, and MâVila looks like being a casualty of this. The central midfielder was photographed sitting among the Liverpool fans during the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park in November. Source: TalkSport Rumour two Danny Welbeck continues to be linked with a summer move to Everton. The Manchester United striker may end up being surplus to requirements at Old Trafford as David Moyes embarks on a radical overhaul of his squad. Everton will be in the hunt for attacking players as loan stars Romelu Lukaku, Lacina Traore and Gerard Deulofeu are set to return to their parent clubs. Welbeck, 23, has not been a regular under Moyes but the England international has managed to net 10 goals. Source: Football Direct News Rumour three Liverpool have been linked with a move for a La Liga defender who will be out of contract this summer. Villarrealâs Mateo Musacchio has emerged as a target for the Reds. The Argentineâs current deal expires in the summer and it is thought he could be open to joining a side playing in the Champions League, which Liverpool are well on course for. Barcelona are also in the hunt for Musacchio but he would most likely get more first-team football at Anfield, which could sway him to move to Merseyside. Source: Football Fan Cast Rumour four Real Sociedad have denied reports that Liverpool have made an offer for their Mexican forward Carlos Vela. It was rumoured that the Reds might be interested in signing the former Arsenal man, 25, as back-up for Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge. However, Socieded president Jokin Aperribay denied that there had been formal interest in any of his clubâs players. He said: âAt this moment we have not received offers and no-one has asked about any player.â
Rumour one: M'Vila I'd be happy with him but why has no one else shown a interest? Everton don't count #smallsclub Rumour two: Welbeck (to Everton) Good signing for Everton but not convinced its a good move for the mancs. He's not the best striker in the world but he has great movement and energy and, IMO, he was the one that made the difference against Olympiakos too. Great for us if they sell him mind #weakenedsquad Rumour three: Musacchio Who? Rumour four: Vela Isn't he a Arsenal reject?
wouldn't take too much notice of that, they let Anelka go who went on to be a ruddy good player. M Villa, not sure, he have an attitude problem?
Musacchio is a good defender for Villareal. Been a rock for them in the back, I would be happy with that.
They didn't let Anelka go, he forced his way out and they got a ransom from Real for his services too.
ok apologies, i thought it was because he was young and had an attitude problem so they let him go, stand corrected memory aint what it used to be lol.
Or if you read his book, apparently Viera hit him in the face with his mandingo and Wenger said " THAT is why he is captain!!"
M'vVila has been in trouble quite a few times (both on and off the pitch) - he seems to have grown up since moving to Russia and becoming a father. He won't be too expensive and I think he would be worth the risk. Both and Bender could be formidable in our team.
No, Anelka was playing well and got 19 in 46 games that season (not bad for a 19/20 year old that had the burden of replacing Ian Wright). Arsenal signed him for £500k in February 97 and sold him to Real Madrid for £22.3m in the summer window two years later. 4,460% profit isn't bad is it?
