We have Humberside airport on the doorstep, do you not think that with the announcement that Siemens is setting up shop there will be more airlines wanting to set up shop there to cash in extra traffic, in any case there is nothing to stop them coming via Amsterdam. Also 2017 is three years away we could build two 5 star hotels by then and I am sure that there will be at least one more hotel built to cater for the expected influx during CoC year.

You expect Hollywood's glitterati to fly into Humberside Airport?

You wouldn't need a very long red carpet, the whole terminal is about thirty feet wide. <laugh>

It's a lovely idea and I'm happy that we go for a bit of press with an idea like this, but it's utterly ridiculous to think we might have a chance of actually hosting it.

Central London is huge whereas our degenerated areas our right on the door step of our city center. Springbank, Beverly Rd and Anlaby rd are far from paradise. I love Hull i just think those areas could do with more funding as they leave a bad impression.

    Agreed.

What about the A63 into Hull as well?

The amount of detritus on the side of the road is embarrassing, I don't think there's a bush or shrub that hasn't got **** loads of shredded plastic stuck to it, flapping about in the wind.

I blame those Trans Waste lorries.

I've driven behind several and trying to avoid all the **** flying off them was like playing Mario Cart.

    w**kers need gripping.

So you're saying that the BAFTAs can only be hosted in London? What utter nonsense.

    So has Blampers.

I just hope( for your sake, not his) that you don't turn up in the same frock.

Would be a tad embarrassing would that.

Mind you I dare say he'll start a thread about what people are wearing( he likes starting threads like that) so you should be ok.

That's exactly what i'm saying, yes.

I think people are underestimating what a logistical challenge the Baftas are.

Of course. Only London has the answers, eh? And yourself, seemingly.

    Ridiculous.

Blampers puts a bit more effort in than a onesie.

Here he is at The Oscars

You might think it's ridiculous, but it's not going to move out of London.

The organisation is based in Picadilly and they have enough trouble getting Hollywood stars over when they get a suite at the Dorchester and a red carpet event at the Royal Opera House, they'll have sod all chance if they shift it anywhere else.

    What's wrong with The Campanile?

The A listers could nip in Propaganda before piling across to Hull Truck( good enough venue IMO) for the awards and finish off the night with a night cap in Spring Bank Tav.

Good enough for anyone is that.

Sorry, I'd not thought it through, they could try out a few local delicacies too, from Falcon's.

Nah, they'd prefer the Yorkshireman. Then onto the ceremony & afterwards to Spiders for a head banging sesh. Brad & Angelina love a bit of that.

Everybody laughed 10 years ago about Hull City being in the premier league. Nobody could even dream of playing in Europe.
Aim big folks and you be pleasantly surprised.

I would put a few of the top totties up at mine:emoticon-0115-inlov<party>

I think if Hollywood A-listers can cope with Harlem and the Bronx, I don't think they'll be too shocked by Bev Road.

As has been said, there is no chance of A-listers using Humberside Airport. It'd be like getting a date with Megan Fox and taking her to Maccy-D's and your local hall for a game of bingo. It's a nice little airport, humble and serves it's purpose, but we're talking about people who wake up in the morning and have somebody else brush their hair for them.

I thought The Brit Awards was much more possible for us to accommodate, but that has been claimed as very unlikely now - so what chance do we have of getting the BAFTAS? I'd love it if it happened, but it is very highly unlikely.
