That's the one. The glory hunter who only cares about trophies and not supporting his team through thick and thin. Funny how he disappeared when liverpool got knocked off the top of the league at Xmas and returns now when they've a small chance if others **** up <whistle>

I was born in 1981, am I allowed to enjoy our recent successes, just so I know? Many thanks.

Didn't take long for this thread to turn into a history lesson, how very predicable. Still waiting for someone to inform us all what remains from Liverpool's previous eras that will help them compete on multiple fronts next year. To clarify, I'm not asking how many league trophies you've won, or how **** we were pre 2003 etc (as you lot struggle to keep on track).

Because he put money into Everton to make them successful.
Same as Jack Walker did at Blackburn (albeit very briefly), Roman done with us, and Mansour has done at City.
The most successful teams have always been the ones that splash the most cash, not sure why people think this is a new phenomenon.
The amounts have gone crazy in recent times but its always been the case

I have a question.

If foredeck was on the windup why is johnsonsbaby trying to prove him right?

Does that mean johnsonsbaby was owned by his friend? <doh>

Yep. We were very close to wining the league 98/9, but for poyet's injury we may have.
My dad still goes on about 64/5 season when Docherty's Diamonds nearly landed the domestic treble but we only won the league cup, lost a cup semi and choked the title run in after eight players were sent home for drinking and we lost v Burnley.

The following season we played 75 games but fell short in the league, cup semi again Anf fairs cup replay

Put money in to Liverpool too. He wasn't allowed to sit on their board but did support them financially through the family. It's actually on the Liverpool FC website all about it and this twat doesn't even know his own clubs history. It's sad. Just another glory hunter I guess.

He didn't though.

As I'm not an Evertonian I had to look this up. I knew Moores was the director then chairman but didn't know exactly what he did. Taken from club website -

''John Moores never put any money into the club apart from his shares purchase. What he did do was provide security for expenditure on players and provide considerable business acumen alied to a ruthless determination to succeed.

From a financial aspect, all John Moores ever did was guarantee Everton's overdraft — he never spent a penny on the club but he did allow Everton to spend plenty under his control and direction — they couldn't live beyond their means.''

Yes, the whole family supported them. To deny it is ridiculous really.

Liverpool fans deny so much of their history. Money poured in and first club to give out plastic flag.

During his 13 years as chairman/director Everton won 3 trophies [2 charity shields]. He certainly flashed his cash didn't he <laugh>

The Moores family is huge and very famous in Liverpool, you couldn't live in the city and not know them! John Moores had nothing at all to do with Liverpool FC, one of his nephews David, was Liverpool chairman for 15 years and holds an honourary role.

The Moores owned 51% of Liverpool for over 50 years. It was purchased in the mid 50's. Shanks took over in 59 and broke the transfer record twice. You're in denial sad lad.

The chairmanship changed hands many times before John Smith, whose father was a shareholder of the club, took up the role in 1973. He oversaw the most successful period in Liverpool's history before stepping down in 1990. His successor was Noel White who became Chairman in 1990. In August 1991 David Moores, whose family had owned the club for more than 50 years became Chairman. His uncle John Moores was also a shareholder at Liverpool and was chairman of Everton from 1961 to 1973.
