I chose 'long way to go' I read it as 'we really should see ourselves over the line, but we never like to do things the easy way'. Win at West Ham and we're not far off - lose and teams below us win, and we're right back in it.
Given how poor Fulham, Cardiff, Sunderland and West Brom currently are I would say one more win and draw would see Hull safe. Obviously more would be great but I doubt that the teams down the bottom are going to get much more this season. I think both Fulham and Cardiff are lost and its now a fight between Crystal Palace, Sunderland, Swansea and West Brom for that last magic spot. People are overlooking Swansea due to the players they have, but they have only 1 win in 9 games, so are in a very dangerous position. I personally think they will walk through the last few weeks and get enough points, but it wont be as straight forward as people presume.
Revised version of the poll, issued by the club today: Are we safe from relegation? A. No. B. Don't know. C. Yes, but we will be relegated next season if the Allam family are not allowed to lead the club
Revised version of the poll, issued by CTWD today: Are we safe from relegation: A. No B. Maybe C. Yes but the club will cease to exist with all our history wiped out of the Allam family continue to lead the club
Almost but not quite there yet. Our goal difference is worth an extra point as well - how long is it since we have been able to say that? It would be great if we are safe by the time the semi final comes around.
Ours would actually be: Are we safe from relegation: A. Yes B. No CTWD is run by people who would be perfectly capable of running a ballot that would not only be fair, but would actually work.
I wonder if it will be under the terms of sale on next seasons season tickets that by purchasing you are agreeing to support all of the Allam families decisions around the club and will not oppose any of their plans in any way, shape or form.
I honestly think that another 3 points would put us safe but definitely wouldn't like to test that theory!! Don't expect us to get more than 5 points though. Think Cardiff and Fulham are definitely doomed with possibly Sunderland next favourites followed by Palace followed by West Brom and Norwich for that last spot.
For us to go down now we'd have to lose 6 games and no more than draw the other 2. Ring any bells ? That's what we did in 2008/9. 33 pts from 30 games (same as now) and then managed a grand total of 2 pts from the last 8 games. Stayed up by the skin of our teeth. This league is unrelenting and has a habit of kicking you in the knackers when you least expect it. Cautious optimism at this stage....
I disagree with your comparison because in 2009 we had a fantastic start and then a slump. Whereas this season we have trundled along quite nicely. Also, the team back then was poor compared to this team. Another also, there are more teams involved in the relegation scrap this time. Another another also, we have a better manager.
