Desperate is not the word.

I imagine some eager young 'intern' dutifully typing up this AA/EA dirge.

More rubbish. And still no business plan. No figures. Just coming out with stuff we already know and heard.

Hull can be like Everton & Spurs :)

The writer's head is firmly in the clouds. That or firmly up Allam's backside.

In reality we'll yo-yo whatever the outcome of this, as the money coming in won't be a spectacular amount.

Always frustrates me reading a lot the YES people comments or theories. They ALWAYS use the doom and gloom we'll get relegated and get a worse owner scare tactic. Who is to say we don't get a better owner who puts more money into the club and we become really successful? Unlikely I know but also a possibility. I am not against the Allams just the ridiculousness of the justifications I seen in regard to the name change.

Just seem to have to much time for imagining things. Interns at desks isn't how I spend my time daydreaming.

**** it if we don't have a big enough fan base, let's live with it and accept our level.

We don't not want to become yet another club run/funded by clueless dimbos from the Far East.

Give me 100 million and I will run it better than the Allams, ffs.

"Saying Yes to Hull Tigers is the right thing

In response to a lot of negative campaigning, a number of fans have got together to try and re-balance the discussion with all of the facts

The 2 sides of this argument are as follows

NO to Hull Tigers - The belief is that if the football club’s name is changed from Hull City to Hull Tigers, then the heritage, tradition and the history of the football club will in some way be lost; and that the club is today in a good enough position on/off the field, and that a name change wouldn’t have a long-term effect on increased revenues. Put forward by the CTWD group

YES to Hull Tigers - That the ‘Tigers’ word has been associated with the club for over 100 years and the name change is actually building on the heritage, tradition and history of the club; and that this unique heritage will unlock a significant commercial advantage over our Premier League competitors, with the financial impact being so significant, to, not only, maintain long-term premiership survival, but push the club further forward than our commercial rivals. Put forward by the owners

In order to help understand which way to vote, there are some additional considerations and context that are an important part of any decision.

    The context and FA

The FA have been successfully commercialising football since the 80’s, and today we play in the Barclays Premier League, the SkyBet Football League, the Budweiser FA cup, the Capital One League cup etc.

Whether we like it or not, football was changed forever with the start of the English Premier League in 1992. From 1988 to 1992 football received approximately £10m per season; with the Sky deal in 1992 this rose to £304m for 5 seasons; its now £1b a season, and is expected to double at the end of the current deal, as interest from global multimedia and other businesses want to get into English football.

Football is a commercial business whether we like it or not, and our gate receipts (the money the fans put in each week) are becoming increasingly less important.

Each year the financial resources required are increasing, the revenue fans provide is falling (as a %), but to solely rely on TV money is also unsustainable. Clubs need to find new ways to differentiate, and additional income streams to help bolster the investment are required to keep them in the Premier League year after year.

How strong is the association to Tigers

The first recorded use of the Tigers was in March 1905, 109 years ago, 1 year after the club turned professional in 1904.

A black and Amber shirt with a Tigers emblem has been around for over 60 years, the Tiger replacing the Hull City crest of the 3 crowns.

We shop in Tigers Leisure, we drink in the Tigers Lair, we have Tiger mascots, we shout Tigers songs, other football clubs refer to us as ‘The Tigers’, and when we travel away we use Tiger Travel !

Wherever you look or listen, the Tiger has been part of our history and tradition for a very, very long time.

This isn’t a giant leap into the unknown, it’s integrating our heritage into the playing name.

We are very fortunate to be able to do this, and there are very few other clubs able to incorporate such a strong heritage into their own playing names.

Why do we need more money

Its simple - to stay in the Premier League, and look to progress year on year. We dont want to start each year working out we can get 40 points, we want to progress.

We will need better players, we will have to pay higher wages, have a larger squad etc. all of this can only be funded through higher revenues, the historical examples of clubs getting into huge debts is not the way we should want our club to go, so we need to do things differently. Gate receipts cannot increase enough to fund this.

Unfortunately the money coming in at the top is going out of the ‘game’. Most of it being used to fuel escalating players wages and agents fees; very little stays in the game to help the financial stability of the perceived lower clubs.

We will eventually have a Premier League with 8-10 teams at the top, consistently in the league, with a balance made up of yo-yo teams, teams that come in/out because of luck, or with benefactors or investors with vested interests.

Hull are today a yo-yo team, but with access to more revenues we could become an Everton, or even a Spurs.

What commercial advantage would we get ?

When global brands look to invest in English football, they will look down the list of football teams in the Premier League, and will want to invest/partner or advertise with a club that can help to achieve global appeal at a reasonable value.

The likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal etc. are established football ‘brands’, and could be expensive or unavailable.

Therefore, when these brands look down the list of other teams, there is nothing really to separate us (in a global marketing context). There are only so many international sponsors, and apart from the top 4-6 clubs there is no real difference between the rest of us.

    Why choose Hull ?

If we were called Hull Tigers, then we would stick out, have a USP, and would command interest and significant commercial deals.

It also happens that the Tiger has considerable value in the Far East, so not only would we have a USP, but also a strongly themed USP that could leverage well-above other clubs and brands in that part of the world.

What being in the Premier League means for Hull

It’s simple really. The socio-economic impact is tried and tested. More money coming into Hull, more money being spent in Hull, more interest in the city of Hull. Whether you are a customer, a supplier, a consumer, a business, the council, a football fan, a rugby fan - we all win.

With the City of Culture 3 years away, we could once and for all ‘change’ the external perception of our city.

What should putting in £74m to save the club mean

Any businessperson willing to put £74m and management time into their business should be able to ‘execute’ their business plan.

It is also important to remember that the Allams are taking nothing out and they are not using the club to promote their own self-interests.

The CTWD suggestions that people should vote ‘No’ to Hull Tigers but ‘Yes’ to the Allam’s is flawed – it is like asking a businessman to invest their own money into a business but to follow someone else’s plans – with no responsibility if it fails.

Please remember that the Allams are from Hull, they aren’t foreign owners. We are quite lucky really to have someone from our city willing to invest in the team. There are plenty of other wealthy people in Hull, but none of them have come forward. The Allams investment should be celebrated.

Be careful what you wish for

The Allam’s track-record is one of stability on and off the field, with strong leadership they have demonstrated committment to the club, the manager and the team; remember that the previous administration(s) were either incompetent or unscrupulous.

If the Allams were to leave now we could have a ‘Vincent Tan’, or an asset stripper.

Any new owners are likely to have their own vested interests at heart, we may get an owner who would retain the name Hull City, but make us play in pink shirts, and call us the Flamingos; an alternative could be that someone (from outside of Hull) buys the club and does not invest; they milk the revenue streams, take the parachute payments and walk away with £50+ million for themselves, with Hull at the gates of Administration and/or back in League one.

    The next stages

We believe the Allams want to stay, but they need to hear the majority of fans say so. They need to hear the fans speak up.

The ballot process is a confidential way for the silent majority to offer their support with no fear of recrimination or bullying. It is a chance to have your say with confidence.

If the Allams receive a positive ballot, then they will then look to fight the FA. We think they will eventually be successful because, there are numerous precedents on name changes, in fact only 6 of the current 20 team in the EPL actually have the same name (1 is actually Hull).

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/alternative-premier-league-table-what-3268902

It is also clear that the FA’s process for considering the name change isn’t fit for purpose, and a reasonable sports lawyer would be able to ride a ‘bus’ through it.

If the clubs supporters send a united message (united doesn’t require 100%, just a strong and vocal majority), then the FA will have to listen.

    Conclusion

Support your club, support the Allams and support the name change, everything is connected.

    I quite liked that actually.

Unless it's to launch a legal challenge the yes campaign is a waste of time as the FA council WILL ratify the committee decision. This is all about saving face as they know they can't sell the club without losing a shed load of money. That''s the clearest demonstration of their supposed business acumen.

Agreed - only new thing in it is that the doomsday scenario should the Dr not get his way has been ratched up in the ''Careful what You Wish For'' paragraph; a poor and flimsy article !

    From National Tiger on CI:

"..brace yourselves, this has come from a trusted and reliable source.

Assem Allam has supposedly been speaking to the Council Leader of East Riding of Yorkshire, Stephen Parnaby today.

If City win the FA Cup, he has apparently asked for provisions to be made for an open top bus parade around East Yorkshire only, with a civic reception to be held in Beverley to finish the tour.

I swear Allam actually thinks ‘Hull City Tigers’ is going on the trophy if we do actually win it.

Right now, I'm lost for words.

Suffice to say; ask the silent majority to back you... then take the potential prize away from the very people you called on for help.

    Unbelievable."
