Dont you think it would have looked more stupid if he had collected the trophy in a suit?!
That would have been hilarious. The hole team in their kits and he is stood there in a shirt and tie lifting the trophy

The whole team weren't in their kits collecting medals for the Europa - how did they manage to get by the 'UEFA rules'?

You can collect a medal in a suit apparantly, the manager and the coaching staff are awarded medals and they are not in kits because they are not players.
But as JT was collecting the trophy, and not just a medal, he was asked to wear a kit.
If he had said no, I want to wear a suit, they may have let him probably, but why risk being left out?

Have you found the UEFA rule yet that confirms it? <whistle>

Demba Ba collected his medal without having played a game either - I think your club just make up the 'rules' as they go along.

Maybe because the winning captain on the night deserves the plaudits and the limelight shouldn't be wasted on someone who let his teammates down by missing the finals.

Fact is he could have collected the trophy in the track suit he'd had on all night without stripping down to his kit - you really think they wouldn't have handed the trophy over to a trackie wearing Terry? It was his own ego imo and I do actually understand him wanting to lift the trophy himself.

Dont be ridiculous, he played 12 games during that CL campaign, and because he missed one game he should be excluded?
If he had missed one of the group games or a last 16 leg should he have been excluded?
What difference does it make that he missed the final? If it hadnt have been for his efforts in the previous round, we wouldnt have gotten to the final. (Of course he didnt really help us in the semi final second leg by knee dropping an opposition player, but hey, everything up till then <ok> :) )

Regarding the rule and a link <doh>
Im not sure if it is a stringent rule or whether UEFA just "asked" him to wear a kit, or what not, it really doesnt matter to be honest.
I think it would have looked more stupid collecting the trophy in a suit.
And even more stupid having a guy who captained us for one match lift the trophy, and the guy who captained us in the preceding 12 games of the campaign be left out, but hey, whatever floats your boat.

Can't see anybody saying he shouldn't have joined in the celebrations?

But diving onto the pitch to try and grab and lift a trophy that his fellow teammates earned on the night/nights in a full kit was cringeworthy.
If it had gone tits up would he have taken the tracksuit off or even been arsed getting onto the pitch/rostrum, no ****ing chance.

    Bodanki -

You've got that 'whatever floats your boat' the wrong way round <ok>

And ... only you mentioned him picking up the trophy in a suit, I just think stripping off from the track suit he had on down to his kit [plus shin pads, which aren't compulsory anyway] is hilarious. And a quick google will show I'm not the only one <laugh>

Scholes and Keane managed to stay in the background for the final they were suspended [?] for when utd won it, even though they too had played major parts in the eventual cup win.

I say again, I do understand the enormity of the trophy win for boyhood fan Terry but it doesn't detract from the manner in which he chose to lift the cup.

anyone can, even ****ing figueroa did it for Wigan. It was like when the media jizzed themselves over Rooneys miss-hit shin-shot fluke bicycle kick

JB why do you bother with this no mark when this is what he truly thinks about us and our club. He's just a typical See You Next Tuesday Plastic

"Most people I know despise Liverpool as a football club, and thats mainly down to its fans and not the team (well, Pre-Suarez anyway, people now hate him too).

I am not just talking about Not606 here (There are some decent Liverpool posters on Not 606), I am talking real life, and every other forum I have ever been on, the biggest percentage of delusional, Arrogant, crybaby assholes have always been Liverpool supporters.
I'd go so far as to say Not606 is an exception because most of the throbbing tools on here seem to be from the Arsenal camp, but Liverpool, in England, are generally reviled by fans of other teams (esp Everton, Utd, Chelsea, Swansea) "

Dave sometimes I can't help myself. I've wandered onto a few other team boards the past few months and read some good stuff, some ridiculous stuff and before I know it my fingers start typing and pressing 'post' <laugh>
