Dominated the first third of the game, but then the mistakes crept in...Clyne's gift to Eriksen woke them up, and from there we were largely second best. Oh well; 'tis better to have led 2-0 at WHL and lost than to never have led 2-0 at WHL at all, or something.
Oh well. Bit gutting but not really a surprise. Happened a few times this season, where we have started well and then just petered out. Disappointing, but we can catch Newcastle next week when we play them.
Spurs deserved to win, we lost the plot second half and Tottenham fully took advantage, we barely got out of our half. Hard to pick out individuals, but it feels like we lost our composure in midfield and couldn't keep hold of the ball. Lambert also lost sharpness and seemed tired after about an hour for me, I don't think he can last 90 minutes every game any more.
No, I'd definitely have brought him on in the second half. Just making the point that the first 2 goals were individual errors. But, no doubt, we lost the midfield.
Early in the year he was playing wide, which was a somewhat awkward fit in many respects, but brought his crosses into play...and meant less defensive responsibility. Now he's mainly playing in the centre of the park, where he gets few opportunities to cross, and his rather frail stature is a problem.
3-2. That kills me. From 1-2 up I had that awful feeling, and although I did my best to subdue it as the match drew to a close, so it happened that Spurs scored in the dying seconds. The inevitability of it astonished me back at 46 minutes. I'm not usually like that, but today my gut feeling was that we'd blow this match once Spurs scored their first goal.
Oh well, we have scored some late goals so not worth getting devastated about. We all know what we need to do in the Summer, today just makes our weaknesses a bit clearer.
So then you agree that today was an excellent example as to what he brings to the team....good, glad we settled that.
On the plus side, we are a striker away from being as good as a side who investe 100 million on players
