Losing heavily and having a man sent off is not great and would have preferred a narrow loss but today was never about us, with our run in starting now Man City away is out the way it was important that we were still in touch and Cardiff, West Brom, Sunderland, Swansea and Palace all losing was a great day for us. All the teams directly above still have to play two or more of the top five where as we don't. We obviously have to do our bit but looking at the other teams fixtures 36 or 37 points could be enough we have four home games left Norwich, Palace, Everton and Hull win three of these and we have a chance. What would finish off this weekend is if Sunderland and Swansea both lose there midweek games which is quite possible (Away to Liverpool and Arsenal) The run in starts here
Even I couldn't have conjured this Cookie positivity! We're 4 points from safety with 7 games left to play: - Home to Everton, Norwich, Hull, Palace - Away to Villla, Spurs,Stoke Normally that's 7-10 points at home and 2 away draws, but having thrown so many games, we now still need 5 wins. #Fulhamish says "no chance, but who knows?". FFC 2 Everton 0
One problem we have in the run in is that WBA & Cardiff have to play one another. If WBA win they put themselves quite a long way out of our reach, but more problematic would be if Cardiff won they would gain a 4 point advantage on us. The best possible result for us would be a draw between these two.
Can't quite get my head round the fact that we have the 16th best away record and 19th best home record yet are rock bottom.
Not to mention the fact that the following week is Cardiff v Palace, another game in which a draw would probably be the best result for us.
We were never going to win this game. Question for me is: did the team performance improve. I think the answer was No, which is not a good sign.
agree we fell apart after the second goal. However we did have 10 men and better teams have gone to the Etihad and been taken apart just like us - with 11 men!
We should have won the game, negative performance, our chances are lost... No I am joking of course... Don't think anyone was expecting anything, put it down to experience for players and coaching.
Our lack of draws is the answer there, I think. We have either won (rarely) or lost (mostly) I think we have only drawn a couple so haven't been picking up the valuable little odd point. How much better would things look if 4 of our losses had been draws.
Captain I have been mulling over your answer all day, concluding that you are quite correct. It was the 4 x 1 = 4 that gave me the problem
A bad day today, as things stand. If Palace and WBA both win, we're 7 points from safety and pretty much have to beat Everton.
Shame about the Palace result but at least West Brom and Cardiff drew. Not often I've been cheering on Chelsea ! Good result with Norwich too. Everything changes if we can get a win tomorrow, but I'm not putting my house on it.
Our away days are a total disgrace. I think you can pencil in 3 points from our game, so you can probably work out the permutations a little better by adding those points to your tally
Too many points thrown away, just faith/hope left. Need 4 wins, so 3 points today please - Otherwise Ben Nevis becomes K2. COYW!
