Could not have been a better set of results today...absolute perfection would be a Villa-Stoke draw tomorrow ?

Yep - that last relegation spot looks to be one of Sunderland, Palace or West Brom.

Although Swansea are on a very poor run at the minute and might be go down yet.

Massive wins for us and Norwich today.

A Series of Unfortunate Events involving a debtor, his inability to pay cash and the deaths of 2 people in a suspicious house fire (OK maybe not the last event), meant that I ended up at St. James Park this afternoon checking out The Souper Eagles.

As dire as Newcastle were, Pulis' negative set up and Palace's complete lack of ambition meant that I was doubley delighted when Cisse scored in the 93rd minute. Almost justified the previous 92 minutes mind numbingly dull, tedious fayre listening to our progress on Radio 5 tbh.

I particularly enjoyed the twisted faces of the southern lotharios at the final whistle who seconds earlier had been singing 'We're only here for the fanny' as they prematurely celebrated a hard won point.

If they don't go down then there's no natural justice. They're on a slippery slope toward their penultimate peril.

Good write up Ernie. Yep I'd happily see Palace go down.

What's struck me this season looking at other clubs in the relegation battle and their results is that the Allams could learn a lot from Ellis Short. He appears to have somehow managed to rename his club "10 man Sunderland" without the fans getting arsey about it.

Looking at the results, they all fell kindly for us, the most important one however was our win. Looking at the league table however shows a very surprising figure in the goals conceded column. I think our defence is the 6th best in the league & Palace only slightly worse. I think Pulis will pull them clear as other teams around them are just shipping goals in, their problem like we had last time was a lack of goals at the other end. If Pulis saves them it'll be nothing short of a miracle.

Excellent write up Ern. Quick question: Did you jump up and scream in delight when we scored, to the bafflement of those around you?

And, without being too controversial, stand up at 19:04 and sing City Till I Die?

Actually, if Ern had basically "been at the KC", metaphorically speaking, due to listening to it on the radio, and responded as normal for 90 mins listening to our game, that would be slightly epic.

If he did he may make 2 good, 2 bad tonight, and that would be the cherry on the epic cake.

Nah, I employed Zen tactics and just smiled a little inner smile.

I did do the quick clenched fist thingy when it was reported that Long had scored, but nobody seemed to noticed 'cos I was wearing gloves.

TBH for an attendance of 51000 the atmosphere was dire. The Palace fans at the top of Leazes End were making the most noise by far. Chanting about being in a Library or a Cloisters or summet. Rum cove your cockney. Don't know were they are half the time.

To my shame it passed by entirely unmarked.

I would say that it was because of the riveting display of total football I was watching, but I guess you saw MOTD so you're not gonna buy that.

Talking to a blind bloke and I was interested to hear about why he attended football, and he said he enjoyed the atmosphere and kept up with play by listening to the radio. He said it worked quite well, apart from the time he realised he was the only one celebrating a goal. Turns out he'd tuned in to the wrong game.

This might be the old mind playing tricks but I'm sure at Fer Ark in the 70s, when the invalid carriages used to trundle in to that bit in front of the Well, that blind supporters got an in-house commentary provided.

We're 8 points clear of Sunderland, but with a better goal difference. So that's virtually 9 points.

Think the bottom 3 is set now.

WBA will flirt with it, but should just about have enough to save themselves.

Norwich need points NOW to soften their run-in, whereas Sunderland have a horrible April looming.

All that said, wouldn't shed a tear if Palace dropped through the trap door.

6 points from the 24 left will see us easily home, anything after that is gravy and the higher the league position the better the prize money.

    Best season EVER.

To be safe or there abouts before the semi final next month would be fantastic.
