Alright gents With Skrtel scoring 2 yesterday against Cardiff, he has now scored 6 this season in the League. Now who remembers how gut wrenching it was when Torres shat all over us and left the club and went to a bitter rival in Chelsea for £50 million right when we were fighting to survive as a club, after stating just days before that he would stay? At the time I vaguely hoped he would fail and be moved abroad. Now, not only has he failed at Chelsea and is down the pecking order behind 33 year old Eto'o and looks like he will be shipped out this summer, but he is actually scoring less goals than our £6.5 million pound defender Martin Skrtel. - Torres (as a striker) has scored just 4 in 24 appearances. - Skrtel (as a defender) has 6 in 28 appearances. £50 million quid Chelsea - you should have bought Skrtel!! The grass isn't always greener! And Torres, couldn't happen to a nicer bloke please log in to view this image
Chelsea were scoring for fun yesterday against 11 man and then 10 man Arsenal and Torres still couldn't score
I'm long past the stage of being angry with Torres over the manner in which he left, now I'm just fascinated as to how someone who set the PL alight when he arrived can become so average.
You might have bile for him but not me. He put in a good effort for us, and now it turns out Sturridge says Torres was the one who convinced him to come to us. And he told Sturridge the Reds are 'the best club I have played for'. We had great use of his talents, we sold him past his prime for a PL transfer record, he still holds us in high regard, and he convinced Sturridge to join. What's not to like?
The fact is at the 12th hour he dropped us in it in a relegation fight, that's where we were. Not matter what he should have stayed til may end of F him......
The funny thing is the guy has the ability. definitely he has. His decision making is gone completely, confidence gone completely. The worst move of his career going to Chelsea on a personal level, he can obvious enjoy the CL and EL winners medals when old age steals memories of not having earned those medals.
Any player that relies on pace will eventually get found out in their late 20s in this league. Though it's shocked me just how bad he's been, even the likes of Bent and Defoe still delivered every now and then.
Completely agreed. The way he left us and the position we were in when he put in a transfer, and the timing which led to the panic buying of the likes of Carroll left us with many more problems than just him leaving which took a long time to get over. Sod the bastard! And notion he recommended Liverpool to Sturridge as it was "the best team I've played for" I find highly sceptical too.
Or it could be that Torres first season with the chavs was so bad he was afraid for his starting place and needed to convince his competition to leave. #ulteriormotives
Torres needs to do one thing to improve his game; enjoy it! He used to always be smiling when he jooned us. It started to go down hill once he started arguing with officials etc.
All I can assume, Is that he knew he was finished, so decided Liverpool could take the cash and he would make a rival weaker...lol Agent Torres?
What happened the chavs when they bought Torres was pretty much the same as when you buy a PS4 on Ebay and a picture of a PS4 arrives in the post for the £400 you paid
I take solace in the fact that he regrets the path he took in his career. I am certain he thinks it was a big mistake moving when he did to where he did, not saying he should have stayed, just that he picked the worst club at the worst time. it is embarrassing to be behind Eto'o for Torres, humiliating actually. Tough ****, bed's made n all that.
bang on mate! He's competing with Demba Ba as number 2 to Eto'o Both are good but Torres of old should be way ahead of them. That move has ruined his career. Oh well
Meh he hasn't been that bad tbh, it's only really in the premier league where he's goal record is awful, and if you actually look at it in the last 15 years only 2 strikers have had 20+ goal seasons for us on 2 occasions each - Drogba & Hasselbaink. Was a bit of a rip off for us but was kind of a win win for all parties, as Liverpool got the money ( albeit you spunked it ) and we got an ok player who has chipped in some important goals at times, and at least it weakened liverpool for a few years, Torres never use to stop scoring vs us!
