Scrappy and unconvincing win. Aluko was if anything anonymous for the 60 mins he was on the field and is either unfit or tentative about his last injury. He shouldn't be in the starting 11 again until needed for the cup semi.We badly need someone down the left flank and Quinn Koren or Meyler don't fit the bill.Livermore has had a dip in form just at the wrong time ,it's several games now since he strode forward shooting on sight and regularly hitting the woodwork. We are going to struggle in the cup with so many missing and out of form players. The points gap we have should be enough to see us safe in the league as all relegation teams have pretty difficult run ins and they can't all win.Hopefully Shane Long will be ok for some of our remaining fixtures and Boyd back for the last few.
Don't know if I was seeing things but the defender certainly seemed to have a very good handful of Long's shirt for the penalty. No-one else seems to have commented on the shirt pull though and maybe it was wishful thinking on my part - I'm not sure whether the lino actually signalled it to the ref who wasn't going to give snything. Also, I thought there could have been pens for a trip on Meyler in the first half and also on Sagbo in the second.

Sagbos shout looked stonewall to me. The ref had an awful game, if Longs penalty was a bad call then in our favour I guess but he was no help for either side otherwise and completely inconsistent. The incompetent FA need to do something about the equally incompetent standard of referees.
Massive and important win today. After a week when the circus around the club has reared its ugly head Brice and the boys have produced the goods.
Happily buy you a pint Bob but i think we can both agree you and Brucey were wrong and I was right. Shockingly ****e.
The numpties going ape in the away end at full-time cracked me up. Apparently an half-caste kid was going super schizo because somebody did the old 'monkey arms' at him.
Forgot about the Meyler shout. I didn't know if it was inside the area or not from my view but it looked like a clear foul and that he was punished for not making a meal of it. The Sagbo one was a stone waller which was only not given because we'd already won and he'd already given us one. I haven't seen a replay of that one but it couldn't have been clearer.
I just posted the team I thought it would be, with Fryatt added in to stir a bit of hoo-ha, which seemed to have worked, it was always going to be Jelavic and Long, every man and his dog knew that. Thought Figueroa would get the nod to add some left footed balance down the left flank in a narrow formation without wingers. I was right about the rest, formation & personnel. I agree Alukos been ****e since his return and was dire today. But we all know what he's capable of, he's not going to get back to his best without playing, and short of options like we were today it was worth rolling the dice and throwing him in. We need to find a way to get Sagbo playing central in my opinion, not sure how though unless we play a narrow 4-3-3 with the 3 up top playing as proper strikers and not spending most the game wide out on the flanks like most supposed 4-3-3's turn out to be like.
Bob how the frig did you guess we'd play a formation we've never played before under Bruce and bring in Aluko who's completely out of form and no one else expected to start?
A win , 3 points and a very important result . At one point Davies looked like he would have to be taken off but he carried on and was superb again Some very excitable WBA fans at the fence after the game
I was really surprised to see Aluko start and despite the win, I don't think it was a great decision.
