If he tried to set up like that more I think he would have been given more leeway by the fans. Largely no one expected Europa league or even really top half just looking for us to be more attacking and proactive showing more intent. He really got it right today and if that is the way he wants to play in future then I'm sure the majority would be happy for him to stick around. The problem has been in set up and the use of players like Wes, since he came back into the team he's been awesome our best player and the most creative play we've seen all season. He was like that last season when we had our best run, so Hughton knows what he can do, but we've seen nothing of him, to the point that he wanted to leave, in a team that was crying out for creativity until injuries forced him back into the team. Hughton is frequently too hard to read, some time he send out a great team, sometime you know that the game is going to be poor when he team is announced at 2pm. If Hughton wants to play attacking football then the fans will welcome him, but the slow obvious easy to defend play that we have shown too often this season is what has people backs up and people will want to see real intentions to move past that.
Fully agree bath. If today was anything to go by then it's a good way forward. I think Howson is a big factor in our team aswell. Him in place of Johnson transforms our team from midfield and gives us far more composure. It's nice to see our midfield having a good pass rate!
Yesterday was a bright light. Unfortunately this season & half of last has had more darkness than I'd care to remember! For me he still needs to be released at the end of the season, that's just my opinion, he's inherently a very defensive manager and I would like to watch the type of football they played yesterday every week but it only seems to come along when the chips are very much down.
We did and Cisse needed that goal. Let's hope we get a couple against Everton. Good luck against Swansea.
