So we're looking for Everton, Chelsea, Newcastle and Arsenal wins today, not exactly unrealistic and we could start to look pretty comfortable if we win.
If we win tomorrow, I think we will be okay this season, but it still might be tight on the final day. Thankfully we still have some home games where 3 points are slightly more than quite possible with Sunderland, Stoke and West Brom to visit us. Just goes to show what a massive win that was last Sunday. I even fancy a draw against Arsenal for no reason whatsoever
My view now (Unless Fulham come back against Chelsea) is that two of the three places are taken.Fulham need five wins from ten games just to reach 36.
They've got the fixtures to do it though: Cardiff (A), Newcastle (H), Everton (H), Norwich (H), Hull (H), Palace (H) are all winnable.
But there is a big difference between them all being winnable and winning all of them.Geordies and Toffees especially.
I got what you meant Thai, don't worry. Just a point from the Cottage for once would be lovely! Very true, but the rest of their games are fairly reasonable too. I might take 4 wins from that sequence, but if they can get some momentum it's still possible.
Arsenal have been bloody awful today! No real goal threat to speak of and out-muscled by Stoke rugby club
Cardiff v Fulham next week is a major crunch game. Both teams are short odds on for the drop and it seems like if there is a loser in this match then that team has run out of time. It's likely that a draw won't help either of them in their fight to survive.Cardiff 1/4 on,Fulham 1/3 on. By comparison everybody else's trials seem trivial.Sunderland must be worrying about fixture pile up,another week end of cup action won't help Sunderland are 15/8,Palace 2/1,Norwich 13/5 and WBA 3/1.Swansea on one point more than us are available at 14/1!
Fulham are 1/3 after yesterday's defeat at Cardiff.Whilst Cardiff move out, albeit only to 1/2 on.Palace are third favourites at 9/5 and West Brom and Sunderland are 2/1.We come next at 3/1.That appears to be that because the next in line is Hull at 16/1.Seems long for a team just a point ahead of us.
Norwich v Sunderland is now the most important game in the relegation battle. If we win and the gap beween us is opened to seven points then I think we will survive ok.If Sunderland get nothing tomorrow I would be surprised with their fixtures (6 of the top 7 to come plus four relegation contenders)If they are capable of more than ten points leaving them on 35.Lawro thinks we will win tomorrow and go down.If we do win we won't go down. IMHO.
lawro has probably gone for the safe prediction for relegation, putting together how we have played recently, fans on the managers back, and the last 4 games. you can see the logic. he does seem to have a love-in with tony pulis though.
We are out to 5/1 now, more or less our longest odds all season (I think we may have been 11/2 at one point) Looks like Fulham,Cardiff and possibly Sunderland although Palace are on a bad run.
As long as we see off West Brom at Carrow Road (which we should), we will be in the PL next season for more frustration
