Some gentlemen, at a box social, or some such gathering, at 12 High Street, Old Portsmouth, (New Portsmouth, in those days) on 5th April 1898, decided to create a football club. And so it came to pass, that Pompey was their offspring. And the future success, of south coast football, was finally assured.
