Who was responsible? I feel it was the players and not moyes. Rumours suggest the senior players, many of who have been subject to some harsh criticism from many, had a meeting about the clubs situation and what to do. I wonder how the players will play tonight and v City after moyes has basically taken the credit for Wednesday.
Got to say, I think it was a combo of both. I said this to my mate when the teams came out, both Giggs and Ferdinand have allegedly been critical of Moyes recently and it was as if he said "go on then, let's see what you can do". I was very sceptical when I saw the side and thought it was a suicide note of sorts but it worked. Did in Giggs' case anyway and while Rio put the shift in he's definitely now past it as far as being a top class defender is concerned. It was a team effort. I even saw Harry Ramsden speak at one point.
Lets not forget the part the greeks played. After beating you 2 0 and seeing you lose 3 0 at home after that they were pretty sure they were gonna see this out. They were pretty shocking, they can get a goal but their defensive side was pants, the peno conceded was conference football defending and so was the free kick. I think the players sorted themselves out. That kind of thing happens after a drubbing by your most hated rivals. What is concerning I guess is that it took that to get a performance out of them. I'd say Moyes had the least impact, I would not be surprised in Fergie had a few words with some of the lads. If was more a Fergieesque performance augmented by Moyes hoofball.
Your players put a shift in for once and the Greeks squandered a hatful of opportunities to put the tie to bed Moyes got lucky, but I don't expect it to last
