Anyone know if it's against rules for a team to put any old tyres on the car and test round their car park? If Lotus really did only complete a single lap they are is so much trouble it's almost criminal.
AUTOSPORT ‏@autosport 32s Boost for Renault, as Lotus tells AUTOSPORT it hit the 100km limit in a successful 'promo' test with new E22 But at anything close to 80%+ power?
Laps are allowed for a filming day. Teams can also do a number of limited straight line aero tests (this is they type of test that tragecially injured Maria de Villota) edit: Clarified that they were there for 2 days. Only did 1 lap on the first day, but made their quota on the second day.
Interesting to see the brake blowing cooler seems to be being used to cool engine cover and the guy with fire extinguisher in background. Seems like Renault severely under estimated the cooling requirements of it's power unit. Maybe Adrian N did design the Red Bull according to Renaults under estimation cooling figures!!!
I am not surprised Newey is not happy if that is the rear end cooling the Renault power unit requires!!!! That is bigger 'gaps' than the Caterham!!
Seems like Lotus have only just signed the deal with Renault for power units for 2014 and beyond. Believed to be till 2018. I hope they got a bargain price as the current power unit doesn't seem very good to say the least.
