The first UK prosecutions over female genital mutilation have been announced by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). Dr Dhanoun Dharmasena, 31, of Ilford, Essex, will be prosecuted for an alleged offence while working at the Whittington Hospital in London. Hasan Mohamed, 40, of Holloway, north London, faces a charge of intentionally encouraging female genital mutilation. Dr Dharmasena and Mr Mohamed will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on 15 April. 'Sufficient evidence' In a statement, director of public prosecutions Alison Saunders said the CPS was asked by the Metropolitan Police to consider evidence in relation to an allegation of female genital mutilation (FGM). Female genital mutilation FGM includes procedures that alter or injure female genital organs for non-medical reasons About 140 million girls and women worldwide are living with the consequences of FGM Dangers include severe bleeding, problems urinating, infections, infertility, complications in childbirth and increased risk of death for newborns Source: World Health Organisation It was alleged that following a patient giving birth in November 2012, a doctor at the Whittington Hospital repaired female genital mutilation that had previously been performed on the woman, allegedly carrying out female genital mutilation himself. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-26681364 Sick ****s
Why? You asked for a picture and I posted one that wasn't in the least offensive, unless you happen to be a clitoris.
This story is further proof that to achieve a civilised world we need to wipe out about 75% of the population.
Please explain, oh enlightened one, how an ex squaddie/copper does not think that some religions positively encourage FGM.
FGM existed before the birth of Islam and Christianity it has therefore little if anything to do with religion as I said. Don't believe me? http://www.unicef.org/media/files/FGCM_Lo_res.pdf UNICEF's report on the issue. WHEN In half of the countries, the majority of girls were cut before age 5. In the rest of the countries, most cutting occurs between 5 and 14 years of age BY WHOM In nearly all countries where FGM/C is concentrated, traditional practitioners perform most of the procedures WHY Social acceptance is the most frequently cited reason for supporting the continuation of the practice "For decades, FGM/C has been regarded as a customary rule of behaviour and is often referred to as a social norm. In the last 10 years, major advances have been made in refining an understanding of how social norms operate. When applied to FGM/C, this provides an additional perspective from which to examine the social forces that perpetuate the practice and that need to be addressed to promote its elimination". "It has long been recognized that people’s behaviour can be conditioned by a variety of factors. In the case of FGM/C, these factors include beliefs or knowledge about various aspects of the practice – for example, that it causes harm, which is a correct belief,50 or that it is mandated by religion, which is an incorrect belief". "It is generally accepted that there is no close link between the practice and religious belief. Despite this, there is a widespread view in several countries, particularly in Mali, Eritrea, Mauritania, Guinea and Egypt, that FGM is a religious requirement". Any Religion which mandates FGM has twisted it for their purposes, you can no more blame FGM on religion than you can blame Islam for terrorists.
Wiki, nice. But how do you know that it was not from religious beliefs, just because it pre-dates christianity.
