You have to look at the bigger picture though, Arsenal are a much bigger club now because they have remained in the CL for so long, than they would have been had they finished 5th or 6th every year for the past 8 years, and won 3 or 4 domestic cups over that period.

Missing out on the CL can cost a club big time in the long run, as all there rivals will be getting the money from that competition and they won't. If you asked me personally what id prefer for my club between winning the league cup and FA cup in a season and finishing 5th, or finishing 4th. I'd choose 4th all day long. As it is so important financially to remain in the CL.

It is easy for sides like Chelsea, who have had an endless supply of money for the past decade, to start preaching about silverware, but you have to look at the bigger picture for sides that need that CL money, to keep themselves competing with the sides that have wealthy owners:biggrin:

Rubbish, they havent been competing thats the point.
They have been walking through the motions for a decade now. They have money and are in a better financial situation than most, yet still havent won dick.
They are choosing to horde their cash and skimp on the squad. They have had more than enough money to compete, they just chose not to spend it.

The 2 competitions that really matter are the PL and the CL, they are the 2 major trophies if you ask me. The FA and League Cups are a nice bonus, but they are only minor trophies in comparison to the other 2. Arsenal and Wenger have tried there best to compete in both the PL and CL, you can hardly accuse them of not trying in either. They have failed miserably on a few occasions, but they've still had a go.

As for the finances, they have spent what they can afford to spend, what with having to pay off a big new stadium in recent years, they certainly haven't had anywhere near the financial muscle of Chelsea or City. I think though things are looking up for Arsenal on that front, as the stadium is more or less payed off, and they are now raking it in with 60'000 at every game. The signing of Ozil was a signal of intent, and that they are now in a position to compete for the top players, so Wenger is now going to have to start delivering in the PL and CL, as there will be no excuses anymore

    Agree with you here.
If he continues to actually spend some of the money they earn, he will need to start providing some results.

Arsenal can still win the PL, it isn't out of the question. I can see them getting a positive result tomorrow at the bridge, with Chelsea's 2 most energetic players Ramires and Willian suspended, along with a champions league game in midweek in the rest of the players legs, whilst Arsenals players have had a weeks rest.

The best way to play against Arsenal, is to use pace and energy, which Liverpool proved to perfection, so Ramires and Willian will be a huge loss for them tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how Mourinho approaches this game, as he is smart enough to know his side will need a lot more energy with those 2 missing.

I reckon people should take the 14/1 about Arsenal for the title, as I reckon that price will be a lot shorter after tomorrow's game
