That's junior, not the main man... http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull...tory-20771069-detail/story.html#ixzz2wbNLaech
And before anyone shouts nepotism, any manager would have given Alex a new deal, after the way he's showed he can cut it, against Premier league opposition.
I think Bruce junior has fully deserved his extended stay. He has put in some good performances this season and has not looked out of place at all . His wholehearted displays and commitment are there for all to see. Admittingly he is found wanting in some games but deserves his new deal. I keep thinking back to Bruce's to tackles he won against Man united in the space of 10/15 secs , awesome commitment
If we are not prepared to open discussions with either Fryatt or Koren until the end of the season, why is this guy any different? Not that i'm against Brucey Junior, but the principle according to Brucey Sen appears to be flawed and inconsistent
Bruce Sen has stated that he won't talk to either Koren or Fryatt until we know what division we will be in nitwit!
Junior is one of the poorest central defenders in the league - I can think of no reason why we would want to retain him for next season - doesn't bode well for the summer transfer window if we aspire to keep players at his level - very poor decision
I agree, sort of. He's played out of his skin at times this season against some of the best players in the world, notably Suarez who only manage to slip past him just the once in 90 minutes. However, assuming we stay up, we'll be looking to push on and establish ourselves and Bruce just isn't good enough at this level. There's Chezzy, Davies, and McShane all ahead of him already, Figueroa also if we go 3 at the back, and I'm certain Brucey will be looking to bring in another centre half in the summer. I don't mind him being the back up, similar to what Faye is to us now, but would he really want to stay here just to pick about at the odd game or two per season? He's easily worth 46 games a season in a top championship side, which I feel would have been better for him. Still, if he's happy to stay here and play that role, it shows he's committed to the cause and I've no problem with it.
Bruce just isn't good enough imo. He gives 100% every single gane which is more that can be said for some but in terms of quality he's just not up to premier league standards.
good point - maybe Bruce think's we're going to get relegated and is preparing us for the Championship - I'm afraid that's the message this decision gives
he deserves it on effort but it worries me to think what will next season be like signing wise. He doesn't look out of place as a bench player currently but he certainly would if we brought any extra decent defenders.
My take on this is that he is a player who is prepared to bide his time, get the nod from time to time and give his all. He is probably fed up with being a journeyman.
Alex deserves this extension to his contract IMO, I am not saying he is the best defender at the club but he will roll his sleeves up and do a good job when called on.The game at this level is about strength in depth and Alex is good squad player and seems to have a good attitude. People saying he is one the worst defenders in the league obviously did not see him boss Suarez at the KC.
