I'm open as to the wage issue. we have consistently driven out high wages... but have rewarded performance. Ergo i cannot see skertl going cos he's been no 1 pick.. this season at least... however its impossible to tell what CL football will do to the wage bill. if we hold it as is then we can see a couple of guys naturally fall off like johnson but really its impossible to tell really whats going to be on our minds.

Bender plays distinctly on the right of CM though. They have Reinarz firm at DM. I have to tell you though, I wasn't at all impressed by Leverkusen's midfield in their absolute dismantlings at the hands of United and PSG...
Bender has been playing in CM for the past year but prior to that he was a DM. But he's an intelligent player who can operate in that area. Personally, I would like M'Vila as the DM with Bender as the CM.
and i'd far rather gerrard as regista or indeed pirlo etc and then two box to box players. i certainly don't want a more limited player like m'vila
I just read that Bender signed a six-year contract with Leverkusen a few months ago. That makes him more expensive than FSG could tolerate.
M'Vila is a very good player IMO - physical and technical. Not just the typical in the typical DM mould. More like a Busquets than Mascherano - operates and controls the space brilliant, quick to cover ground, tackle and pass.
M'Vila has had attitude problems before and has been plying his trade in a weaker league for a year. He could be a cheapish risk but the rewards are huge. Alternatively, spend a bit more and get a more developed player who is more professional and playing at a higher level ... Personally, I prefer both - M'Vila sitting deepest and Bender ahead of him. Because I'm sure M'Vila wouldn't want a Bender behind him ... .I'll get my coat.
Has there been any talk of us going for Bender or is it just talk atm? I heard about his attitude problems, but who knows maybe Rodgers can sort him out.
