So what is the reason? He has never met me. Any one who tries to offer an opinion that doesnt agree with CTWD is shot down and belittled on this board. No wonder you all claim you are the massive majority as fact.
I kind of agree with bits of that. The unique Tiger part of us is being diluted by the failed name change.
You've offered views, which have been argued against. That's not being belittled or shot down, that's just debate. As yet, you've not really offered much to support your views.
I believe he said when meeting CTWD that one reason he wanted the name change was to piss off the council. If I recall OLM's post on it correctly. If so, all the other reasons offered by Mr Allam are tainted.
I don't see a problem having a name and a nickname. Many people have a nickname and everybody has a name.
Ok, i can play this game. Prove that changing our name will damage our club. Prove that changing the name will ruin the FA or our game. Prove any of your views hold up. It's just an opinion. I accept that. I certainly wouldn't question your sanity or ask if you have a mind of your own.
Yes, you are entitled to your opinion but I would think the FA subcommittee's opinion should carry much more weight.
I don't trust the FA to get anything right. They are a bunch of out dated dinosaurs IMO. I certainly wont change my opinion because they say so.
Proof is impossible but reasoning is possible. My view is that the worldwide market for football likes British football because of it's long tradition. Sponsors are interested in being associated with clubs because of the exposure they get. A name change would appear to offer no benefit for any of the above and it would even be detrimental because of the comedy value.
I am talking about the FA subcommittee. Do you know who the membership of the committee consists of? Maybe the FA need a rebrand? "England Bouncy Ball Go Go Go!" anybody?
I refer you to the verdicts of those that looked at all the information and rejected the proposal for (inter alia) the reasons you ask. Now your go.
I counter that by saying the world likes the premier league (not british football) because it has some of the best players in the world and is played at a fast pace. The best players have come from television money making us one of the big payers. I don't think people in other countries care about tradition of our game. I doubt they even know of it. The money came into our game from a re branding of the first division turning it into the premier league. Thats when it went global.
yeah but there hardly seems to be any tigers chants going around at the moment which is a shame. There used to be a good mix of both city and tigers before all the name change business came up.
Seen it, but's what your justification for supporting the name change? Other countries state the tradition and culture as one of the major features of the English game, often as a stick to beat us with. Changing the name wasn't what brought the money to the Premier League, it was a combination of many things that fell under that banner. Arguably the name was academic.
If the FA think that turning the Premier League and the Football League into a version of the Super League then it is up to the person making the application to prove them wrong. Our opinions on this board don't matter, it is the people with the vote that need convincing. Something that Assem Allam has failed to do up to now. If he thinks all name changes should be automatically agreed he should try and get the rules changed.
I agree with you. I hope that if the FA reject the application we can get back to singing The Tigers at the end of Can't Help Falling In Love without is ending in an embarrassed murmur.
