QPR midfielder Faurlin comes out fighting Mar 20, 2014 16:38 By Paul Bishop Argentine determined to return from cruciate ligament injury Agony: Faurlin is stretchered off against Derby QPR midfielder Alejandro Faurin says he is determined to come back from the cruciate injury threatening to end his career. The Argentine took to Twitter to make his rallying cry following comments from boss Harry Redknapp that he feared Faurlin may not play again . Faurlin was stretchered off during the 2-1 win over Derby in November to compound a first anterior cruciate ligament to the other leg as captain in the FA Cup clash with MK Dons in January 2012. Faurlin tweeted the story on getwestlondon.co.uk and wrote: This make me feel even more determined and motivated than ever!! I will be back,I do still have plenty of years to play my football!! My rehab it's been perfectly on course, as I had been expressing and updating on my Twitter and Instagram accounts!!" Earlier Redknapp said: âHopefully Ali will come back fine, but itâs difficult and we have to wait and see.â The 27-year-old has made 115 appearances in all competitions for Hoops since he was the subject of a controversial move from Argentine club Instituto in 2009 that owing to a murky transfer deal nearly cost Rangers promotion back to the Premier League in 2011.
I think he's worth having on the books if we have other good players who can play in his place. We can't depend completely on him. We do have too many unused players on large wages and if we have a proper clean-out at the end of this season, I'd be happy if we kept Faurlin. I think he's worth the gamble. If they're doing things right with his rehab then things should be ok. I think he's just had bad luck and hopefully that's behind him now...
I hope he does come back better and fitter than ever, he is the type of player we need Ale and Joey centre midfield. It is possible to come back from something like that take the case of Cork G.A.A star Colm o Neil who has had 3 ACL injuries he is back playing again and playing well i might add.So heres to seeing you soon Ale
He should be kept on for a year for a number of reasons. 1. If we let him go without testing him out, he'll come good somewhere else and will come back to haunt us. I can just see it happening. 2. Giving him an extension to prove his fitness and worth makes business sense. If he come good (fingers crossed) we have very good player back 3. With all the heart he shows its the right way to treat him 4. I think he deserves the clubs faith 5. The positivity from extending his contract now will mentally help him with his recovery Simples.
Keep a space open for him in the squad and sign him on a pay as you play deal. Redknapp wants him out as a new players agent can help pay for Rosie's dogfood.
Here in Oz, there is one player here who has done his cruciate ligament four times, his brother, twice ................ they both play for my beloved St George Illawarra Dragons in the NRL. .................. so there is still hope for Ale! Seriously. having had two knee reconstructions and five knee operations, I can say first hand that it is all in the head. If the mind is good, you will get through it. I played 11 years of football and it brought me down to earth, real quick. Hindsight and mindset is everything.
Of all the players at the club right now, I think that Ale and Clint really are 'Mr QPR'... He deserves a chance to prove himself, and we deserve the chance to see him in the Hoops again, especially as it was his other leg that suffered the first ACL injury. Give him a 6 month or 1 year pay as you play extension, 'Arry!
It looks like it might be happening, they said its with beard now so look for a 5 year deal on 80k a week!
Don't be silly. Harold would have to recommend it and he has enough worthy causes to whom we could donate the money to without him having to support the idea of Phil beard giving it to someone who might actually deserve it. We haven't had a Chris Samba debacle for a good few months now. Where or to whom is he pledging his undying allegiance at the moment. How I miss (not) those golden moments when he gets brushed off the ball by players half his size.
Faurlin was/is a decent player albeit lacking pace. After a second cruciate it's not looking great. Speaking as someone who has had seven knee operations and needs at least one replacement.
Give him a chance- how many ****ing awful midfielders do we have on higher wages? He's one of the very few left who genuinely cares for the club after years of actively attempting to rid ourselves of players with an affinity for QPR.
Agreed. If he can't come back as a player the club should employ him in another capacity. He's tried his best and given his all, genorisity wouldn't go amiss.
I said years ago on this forum that Ale was the most naturally gifted player we had at the club, and I still believe that. Sincerely hopes he makes a full recovery and graces the Loftus Road turf once more.
