I never said I didn't want him or he wasn't good enough. I questioned the 'straight into first team' bit as we already have a very good front line!
Good player, very much underrated in that Southampton team... Wouldn't mind him but he'd be £10m+ and we could maybe do better from abroad?
Good shout on Firmino Jimmy. Great technique and eye for the pass. Apparently we were linked to him a week ago by the Mirror etc. Shouldn't be more than 15M. I still love my Couts but Firmino would be a worthy contender for the ACM role.
Liverpool will push ahead with a summer deal for Udinese forward Luis Muriel after he reportedly set his sights on a move to the Premier League. The Reds have already confirmed that they plan to be busy at the end of the season, with Brendan Rodgers keen to bring in more top class talent. And while the forward line has been a strong point this term, a versatile frontman to supplement and compliment Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez is on the cards, with Muriel a key target. According to reports in Italy, the 22-year-old has told Udinese he wants to move to England at the end of the season – and Liverpool are now weighing up a £17million bid. MORE: He’s the best! Sterling praises captain Gerrard FBL-ENG-PR-LIVERPOOL-SWANSEABrendan Rodgers is eyeing new players (Picture: Getty) Rodgers has received glowing scout reports on his progress this term, with the Colombian continuing to score goals for fun. A pacy, skilful and agile attacker, Muriel can play as a striker or on the wing, as well in the classic number 10 role behind a lone forward. Chelsea, Manchester City and Barcelona are also keen admirers of the player. http://metro.co.uk/2014/03/19/liver...-for-top-transfer-target-luis-muriel-4657800/
Muriel is an outstanding striker, fantastic. Anyone who hasn't seen his videos, should now - as he is an absolute treat. The caveat is that he will be competing only with Sturridge and Suarez. Impossible for Rodgers to field SAS AND Muriel, imo.
Muriel is decent in AM to. How about depth like this: Sturridge Suarez Sterling Borini Muriel Konoplyanka Suso Alberto Ibe
BR's been playing too much Fifa. Sign all the wonderkids! Sakho... Coutinho.. Muriel. Just need Adryan to top it off
You forgot Aspas and Assaidi . That depth is obviously redundant. 6 forwards are sufficient in a squad. That's why need to sell or loan some of our existing forwards once we buy 1 or 2. Muriel - he is not suited to AM or outright wing roles, imo.
who knows. I think yeah see the back of aspas and assaidi. then if you've six names plaus a couple others like coutinho in the front 3 options and in middle options great. I don't know. Borini or no borini.. i don't think he's great but in europe..
Borini just doesn't score enough goals. That's ok in a forward only if they are good providers, as a F with W upbringing like Sterling or Shaqiri.
Oh good, I dont know that much on him "Chelsea, Manchester City and Barcelona are also keen admirers of the player." So if true thought he must be decent Only Metro though
If I were in charge of the transfers I would do the following: I'd sell Reina for 5m, Aspas for 3m, Assaidi for 3m, Coates for 3m, release Toure (thanks for all you've done this season, you've played with heart but it's time for Ilori to come through) and Jones. Send Moses and Cissokho back to Valencia. I would recall Ilori, Borini, and Suso to the squad. Alberto and Ibe should go on loan to a Prem club for experience. That would give us a final squad list of: GK: Mignolet DF: Flanagan, Johnson, Kelly, Wisdom, Agger, Skrtel, Sakho, Ilori, Enrique + 1 MF: Lucas, Allen, Henderson, Gerrard, Coutinho, Suso, Teixeira + 2 FW: Sterling, Borini, Sturridge, Suarez With an income of 15m at best, plus around 30 in transfer funds - I would bring in a young left back to fight Enrique for his place and cover when he is injured. Second, I'd bring in a replacement for Jones. I would replace Gerrard with a younger, hungrier midfielder that plays similarly to him. I always mention him but Xhaka is my pick of the lot. One more competitor for Lucas' place - a real DM though, not just Allen. My final squad would look like this: ----------------------------Mignolet----------------------------- --Flanagan---------Agger----------------Sakho-------Enrique/LB- --------------------------Lucas/DM------------------------------ --------------Henderson-----------Gerrard/CM---------------- ----------------------------Coutinho---------------------------- --------------Sturridge--------------------Suarez--------------- Bench: GK, Johnson, Skrtel/Ilori, Allen, Suso/Borini/Sterling Coutinho and Sterling would rotate on the bench maybe, coming in for each other. The rest of the youngsters would get a chance in the cups to impress. A second string lineup would have: ----------------------Mignolet-------------------- -Wisdom---------Skrtel--------Ilori-----------LB-- -------------Lucas/DM-------------Allen------------ -------------------Suso/Gerrard--------------------- ---Sterling----------------------------Teixeira--- ------------------------Borini------------------- Johnson could leave on a free. I don't know what else
I'd try and get decnt loan deals for Alberto and Ibe. I doubt Aspas and Assaidi will be at LFC next season.
What are they smoking at the Etihad. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/manchester-city-line-up-sensational-3265122#
"Send Moses and Cissokho back to Valencia." dont think Moses would be impressed by that lol, although he may get more game time than he will at the chavs. surprised you want to keep hold of kelly danilo, or is that more for numbers sake?
I think we'll probably keep Toure because of his experience and his acceptance that he won't be a starter in every game. One of Agger and Skrtel willl leave because they will fetch more money, on high wages and they won't want to be on the bench. As much as we would like to keep them to keep the squad competitive, they won't settle on the bench. I would love to keep Agger as he is 10x the defender Skrtel is. Skrtel as an individual has been better this season but Agger is the one who organises and motives, and instills confidence. You can see him having words with Skrtel and Flanagan, and whilst he may not be a leader in the sense you see him screaming and shouting, he does know how to lead. It's no coincidence that in the 9/10 clean sheets we've had this season, we was starting in 7/8 of them. It's just a shame that he plays as LCB because Sakho is our future.
just a shame that City's offer isn't on the table still, much as I love Agger we should have bitten their hand off for £24m
