Odd that Mini Bale isn't in the squad for this evening. Is he crocked? Also, if we're going to be playing understudies, then we really should be picking the only trained actor at the club: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Miller_(actor)
Saw that lineup. Clueless on CBs. If you are going to play Fryers there (an occasional Academy CB) , then you may as well go for a proper Academy CB in Veljkovic.
Benfica may look at the lineup, and lessen their lineup accordingly (to avoid injuries) . Yep, they're not starting two of the players who played at WHL.
Yes, Gylfi usually plays farther forward... and we usually have at least one CB who's started a game at CB in the Prem... Well, I'm intrigued. This will be a good test of the idea that who we play doesn't really matter when we don't really have a team at this point. It will be a collection of talented but unorganized players who might do okay except against good teams.
Chadli on and Eriksen not, esp. in a makeshift team? He must be going for it, he knows it will be hard to keep them out so go all guns blazing.
He could be resting Eiriksen for Southampton, and/or putting Chadli in the shop window. I also wonder about Soldado as lone striker. Even if he doesn't score, he'll create some good chances for a second striker, but who on this team is going to put the ball in the net? The only one with any history of scoring is Gylfi, who apparently is in a deep lying role. Interesting to note my University of Pittsburgh Panthers are playing in the world's most overyhped sporting event simultaneously, with their games (and, all too likely, tournament lives) likely to end within a few minutes of each other. Nah, Pitt's a bit stronger than Colorado IMO, and are at least 50/50 to get to the second round. EDIT Pitt up 33-10, a shocking basketball scoreline.
2 years ago I wondered if Sandro had the game to fill in at CB and while he's an outsttanding DM, he is aggressive and at times legs and arms everywhere trying to protect the back four so with him at CB he will probably give away a penalty!
Nice from Soldado and Chadli. EDIT *sigh* The worst thing is, that's exactly what Soldado did best with Valencia. It's not like we could have really used an early goal...
I think we have to accept Soldado is now a jigsaw striker, ability is there but he falls to peices in the box.
