Football fans are amongst the thickest ****s on Earth.

Growing up, I always wanted the Scottish teams to do well, even the Irish team sometimes too.

As I age gracefully, I couldn't really give 2 fks, I almost don't care what the Rangers score is these days but it's became so monotonous and predictable, that football rarely gets any airtime in my brain these days. It's so utterly ridiculous to even contemplate getting to het up regarding some guys kicking a ball, it actually makes me want to fist **** some **** in the arse.

When I was a child, I used to know everything about everything regarding football, I think now I'm just sick of it.

i agree in general and to be fair most of my friends are the same. I have one friend who wants all english teams to do well in europe. I genuinely love to see man u, man city, chelsea et al get humped. like you it used to bring a wee bit of joy when the huns got humped in europe, much the same for them when we get a beating. is this petty? probably but all football rivalry is petty and in my opinion there is something wrong with you if you want your rival / enemies to do well

however, teams that i do not consider my rival / enemy i am happy to see do well. i remember a few years ago when aberdeen played bayern munich and hoping for them to do well. similarly back in the early 90's when norwich had a bit of a european run.

I like watching the English teams get horsed but last night I was quite pleased just for Moyes' sake. I always cheer on the Scots clubs though, even Rangers sometimes...believe it or not.

when i lived in the isle of man, the night celtic beat barca in the eropa or whatever the **** it was called in 2004 i was talking to a guy, ****ed would probably describe my state but i was wittering away to him when i noticed his necklace, which had a rangers badge on. being smashed i asked what the **** that was. he said he was a hun (his actual words were probably rangers fan). i felt that he was a far better person than me. i could never rejoice in them beating barca. call me a small minded **** stain if you will, but i cannot ever see me wanting the new huns to win in europe just as i never wanted to see the old huns win.

Football and patriotism are just here to keep us in check and distract us from real issues, like bingo

I read once of the Roman circus under Justinian, there was a green and a blue team, funnily enough and they were both politically motivated. Justian was a blue but was getting grief off the blue brigade...got some backing from the greens in a wee barney to stay in power then, like a true blue turned his back on the greens...

    Nothing's really changed

It is wholly dependent on the club, I don't mind seeing Liverpool do well but I hate Man U or Arsenal doing well. Chelsea don't usual mind as I don't ever watch them, don't know why I just don't.

I hate AC Milan and would cheer even Rangers against them, I don't like Greek or Turkish teams cos I've had **** holidays in those places. I really can't stand Hannover, Lyon and for some reason Brechin City

To be fair I suppose the last time I wanted Rangers to win in Europe was when they played Leeds Utd.

The parallels go further than that - we covered it in school when I was doing Latin. The chariot races were way, way more popular than the gladiatorial games - the chariot races were more for the freedmen, plebs etc whilst the gladiatorial games, whilst accommodating plebs and citizens, was you sport of choice for the politicians, generals (and women, bizarrely - Latin graffiti has been found of women proclaiming their love for certain gladiators).

There was once a 1980 style riot at the Circus Maximus (which was about 3 times the size of the Colosseum) - and it was between followers of the blue tunics and the green tunics (the two biggest supported Circus teams - the other teams were the whites and the reds).

The green fans accused the blues of being "the establishment" team and all sorts - the parallels with Celtic and Rangers are mental.

Just googled and there was more than one riot <yikes>

I think the big one in Constantinople was The Nikia Riot but check the reverse MoJo one from Antioch <laugh>

I did. When I was wee, one of my first memories of football was watching DU get the the Yoofa cup final and Hearts beating Bayern Munich.

My best pal growing up was my wee cousin and he's the biggest sellik fan I know, still to this day, and I supported selik in Yoorup as ma fameily urnae bittur.

My granda and uncle used to take me to selik games when I was wee. The last selik game I went to that Rangers wirnae palying in was Brian McClairs testimonial at OT.

    Get that up ye.

I've probably been to mer selik gems than hof ae the ****s oan this board an rat.
