A fee of around £10m has been mooted to secure the services of the star player in Neil Warnock's promoted side, with Taarabt revealing a significant amount of any fee received would have to be given to his former club Tottenham.

"It's a lot of money because I have not been successful yet in the Premier League," Taarabt admitted.

"But when Rangers sell me they have to give 40 per cent of the fee to Tottenham, my first club."

Newcastle previously failed with a £5m bid for the former Spurs man, and Taarabt indicated he would be interested in a potential move to St James' Park.

He continued: "It is good for me that Newcastle have a few French players.

"People say Newcastle will be good for me, that the fans love players like me. It is fantastic to play in front of 50,000 supporters every week.

"I do not need one of the very big clubs at this stage."

For £10 million I say no thanks, and he sounds like a total arse, although he has undoubtable quality

I really hope there is not truth to this. Absolutely don't want him. Hope he goes to the Unwashed or the Bin Dippers and wrecks their team spirit instead.

Agree that £10m is way too much and that he is an arse. Don't think he has undoubted quality, a lot of players look **** hot in the Champ but are mediocre PL players. Wouldn't sign him in a million years and don't think we're interested.

This. I hope we don't go wasting the £35m like this. Would rather have N'Som for that money.

No at that price & no in general. Wouldn't get into our strongest XI(Arfa is by far the superior attacking midfielder) & I wouldn't pay anywhere near 10m for a bench-warmer. I'll rather that was spent on a potential first team player such as N'Zogbia/Erdinc/Sturridge/etc or a LB/RB. <ok>

Not needed, has a attitude & isn't even THAT good of a player IMO. He's good but not great.

He can **** off. He's an arrogant guy who could easily dampen the good team spirit we have.

He thinks he's the best player in the world , I hate people like him.

    Wouldn't have him for 3m.

If we get Barnetta/N'Zogbia , surely we'll have enough midfielders?

He pretty much single handedly brought them up with 20+ goals from midfield. He definitely has quality (whether it's enough for him not to just be a one season wonder is questionable) but I think he'd definitely do a job in a bottom half PL side

Dont want him. We dont need him. Especially not for £10m.

Should be prioritising another striker or two.

Sounds like he thinks hed be doing you a favour by joining you. Kind of like Darron Gibson's opinion that if he joined us, it would be "a massive boost for Sunderland.

Most experienced PL defenders will mark him out of the game with relative ease. He's got skills, a lot of defenders in the Championship aren't used to playing against players like him. That's not the case in the PL.

I think simply calling him Mike make's him seem more loveable... instead of a complete twat.

Gardner>Gibson. Sadly I can see us getting both which is a total waste.

I don't know why Bruce isn't going for any midfielders that possess flair and creativity. You seem to be going for conservative players like Gardner , Gibson , Larsson...
