You don't have to look at stats. Watching the game shows you how it pans out. We played well, not brilliant but clearly well enough to win three nil and the tie. Yes, they could have scored but we had to chase the game or else it was pointless. It'll do, we're through, that's all that matters right now.
Stats are the last refuge of the desperate. A stat lover will tell you "my team had 17 shots, 14 on target" what they don`t tell you is 13 of the 14 on target were from 50 yards out and bounced 3 times before the keeper picked them up
Now now Diego, I pointed out that the goals were all that mattered. But my response was to matth saying the team were confident, but there were still a few that looked a bit jittery as the stats show it wasn't as convincing a team performance as the scoreline would suggest.
Don`t think it was anything to do with confidence, but i do feel we had more players on the field who actually care about United than we have had in most games this season and the effort/passion/pride showed, i always feel players like DeGea, Evra, Raphael, Ferdinand, Jones, Giggs, Carrick, Valencia and Welbeck WANT to be at United, Rooney and Van Persi i am not so sure about but if you have 8 or 9 players in the team who actually care then it helps.
Rooney(yep he got a massive payrise)was the workhorse yet again for Utd, don't know why you're doubtful about his commitment Diego because he works in defence, midfield and attack to cover for other players frailties tbf.
